Game thread: Pacers host Raptors

Post#1 » by basketballwacko2 » Mon Dec 14, 2015 10:45 pm

The Pacers look to get even for that opening game loss. Myles Turner is still out for us and they are missing their center Jonas Valanciunas.

Tickets are available on Stub Hub from $6 up. So go out and see the Pacers. I'll be watching from the comfort of my recliner but don't let that stop you.

I'm really liking your broadcasting crew this game. Supportive of hometown team, but not to the level of being biased.

THE TRADITION!! I like the Pacemate version of it.

I am stuck nowhere near the house or a tv, but I have heard there is some crazy stuff going on. I will have to check some highlights later. They say basketball is a game of runs, well....

Well I went to the game. Have to say when the raptors started off with I think 26-5 run I was terrified I was gonna watch a blow out. Okay here my take on the game. Once frank took Ghill out of the game an placed monta on Lowry the whole game changed hill was lost out there trying to guard Lowry. Anyways great game by jordan hill, monta, stuckey, an 3j miles!!

I'm gonna catch some heat about this from you guys but it's time to get rid of G Hill. His defense has been subpar an his offense it's horrible

I missed the whole game because of work. It's busy season for us but looks like Monte Ellis played pretty well again. Good win, Toronto is a very good team. I was worried had the Pacers lost tonight people would go into panic mode, since we wouldve had lost 5 of 6.

No, I agree. He hasn't improved the last couple of years and is now looking like he is regressing. As a team that wants to run and move the ball he is being exposed way too much. I do wonder if he has a niggling injury (aside from his bleached hair) but to me it was clear in the bad run of 3 losses and against Detroit that he was the weakest link in the starting five.

As you guys might know, I watch the game first thing in the morning here in the UK, so I can't take part during the game in these threads, but I do like them and hope they keep going, so +1 from me Wacko.

So, my view on the game: Terrible start, no intensity and we looked like deer caught in the headlamps. GHill was largely debet to that, but I also thought Miles had a very poor start, mainly defensively, it is time to rethink the starting five in my opinion.

Once Vogel changed the pieces we started that amazing run, frankly I thought a lot of it was down to Casey not anticipating appropriately more than anything, but Ellis really switched on and played an awesome game. I don't know why he didn't in Detroit, but tonight he looked like the Ellis I want to see, just as he did in the Miami game. From there on in it never looked like we would lose and kept steadily pummeling our way upwards and onwards. We really need to become a lot more consistent and I still have big question marks about several of our players, but at least we got a response today, unlike in Detroit.
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

So if we moved George Hill who do we put at point? Monta could do it but they'd have to have a conversation with him about whether he'd be ok with being the point guard.

I love George Hill but he seems to have been off a bit since he had that illness back a couple weeks. I wonder if he's having lingering effects, and he did kinda tweak his ankle against Miami.

I'm done making excuses as to why he's playin bad if he has lingering effect then get off the court. I'm tired of seeing him play crap defense along with crap offense lately. Dude been with this team since what 4 5 years now an only looks like he's getting worse. This is suppose to be his prime. Maybe he will turn it on soon but if not Larry get rid of him. Just tired of seeing him play bad all the time

GH played great last season when he got healthy, he does seem a little off the last 2-3 weeks.

Let's not forget what our records were last year with and without GHill. Bird is not buying into needing a more traditional point guard particularly with the move to more positionless basketball.
