If Rockets could get Winslow and Whiteside I would do it. Not a fan of Whiteside, don't think this team needs another knucklehead who's a bigger knucklehead than all the rest but it's just a rental and Winslow looks like he's going to be really good. In a year or two I think Clint will be better than Dwight anyways

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
The more accurate statement may be that he is unhappy with the Rockets. Everything I've seen and heard about him shows that he loves the city.
I can understand his frustration with the situation, but he had to know when he came here that it was Harden's team.

My bad, probably should've phrased it better, but yeah that part doesn't make sense. Big possibility it's not true as Sheriden sometimes is wrong. Also strange that he used his "breaking" report to show his trade idea to everyone. And because it's Dwight everyone is going to run with it

Yeah, I'm not too sure of Sheridan's reputation. He could just be throwing something against the wall. Kind of putting a reservation on future news by saying "hey, I reported it first!"

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
I'd be fine with Dwight leaving, assuming we can get something of value for him. I think he still has the D12 brand attached to his name as people still remember his heyday back on Orlando which could garner more assets than his stats would warrant.
Serious question, is he really any noticeably better than Clint Capela? Sure Dwight is stronger and more experienced, but Capela has very similar shot blocking and rebounding totals. Clint also doesn't demand ridiculous post-ups downlow where Dwight turns the ball over so much. He is getting basically 100% of his points off put-backs, alley oops and PnR. His post-game seems to be improving based on the limited touches he's gotten so he could pose to be a reasonable scoring option at center. Howard is a good defender at C but I'm not seeing world class defense there anymore, just good but not great imo.

Whiteside killed the rockets last month with 25 points on 13 of 15 shooting and 15 rebounds with 2 blocks. In preseason he had 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks against Houston in 26 minutes. He's 4 years younger than Howard. He's currently avg 4 blocks per game. I don't see Riley trading him, especially to Morey.

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
That's just what was suggested in the article. Whiteside isn't happy where he is though because his playing time and maybe he's a bigger head case than he already seems so Riley wants to unload him and not have to give him a mega max. Was not my trade idea however.

Because Terrence jones' stupid ass is getting more involved on offense than he is.

Why would the Rockets do this. Heat doesn't have Whitesides bird rights. He becomes an unrestricted FA regardless in the summer, so we can just bid on him then.

not that Riley wants to trade him but the Heat current situation might force him to.
Miami only has an early bird right with Whiteside and limited to it coz he was only signed for two yr deal, and believing Whiteside will get more than that, Miami needs to use their cap space to resign him coz he's worth more than the average early bird salary of $8m. And Miami is in chase for Kevin Durant next year. It is impossible to keep Wade and resigning KD to max contract if they give a lot of their cap space to Whiteside. That is why Sheridan and other writers thinks that Riley will probably trade Whiteside for someone like Howard and Cousins to get value in return while keeping their cap space to use to a max free agent next year's off season.

OK how are they even gonna make the salaries come close? Dwight is literally making 23 times what Whiteside is earning this season.

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
Welcome to our (former)world. If the reports are true, Dwight has always seen himself as a "go to scorer" even though we all know how limited he is. It doesn't seem like he's changed much if the story is true. I don't know why Miami would trade a young, talented center for Dwight who cant play in back to backs but I understand the situation they're in as well.
He's been a diva literally everywhere he's played. Pretty sad.

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
Once Dwight let the media, fans and probably yes men convince him that he needed to be a Shaq or Hakeem like go to scorer his approach to the game has dwindled. I enjoyed him as a Magic player, hope he had stayed in LA but overall not sure I like what is left of his game. Still elite defensively and should really focus there. He's still going to get top dollar on the market. If he wants to win he needs to worry less about being featured a lot on offense. I do still think he can be a 20 pt player with the right coach and team though.

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
Celtics looking to add a go-to scorer.
Would Ainge do Dwight for David Lee and Avery Bradley and 2 first rounders?
Lee is old but his contract is expiring. Bradley would be a good fit next to Harden as he's shooting 41% from three this season and an excellent defender.
Celtics have a ton of first rounders from other teams: Brooklyn 2016, Dallas 2016, Clevelend 2016, Brooklyn 2017 (swap-rights), Brooklyn 2018, Memphis 2018
Or is there too much bad blood against Dwight in Boston for when he was playing for Orlando?
Rockets
C: Capela, Lee
F: Motiejunas, Jones, Harrell
F: Ariza, Brewer, McDaniels, Dekker
G: Bradley, Beverley, Lawson
G: Harden, Thornton, Terry
Celtics
C: Howard, Zeller, Olynyk
F: AJohnson, Sullinger, Jerebko, Mickey
F: Crowder, Young
G: Smart, Thomas, Rozier
G: Turner, Hunter

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
I like that trade actually, seems reasonable. Boston needs to consolidate their big man playing time anyway and Dwight is a solid force to the lineup. Lee is still a solid rotational player so I don't mind giving him minutes and Capela is playing better and better as time goes on anyway. Bradley is a perfect fit with Harden as well.

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
Was browsing the forum after reading something about Dwight and was wondering what you'd expect to net in a trade. Your suggested trade is reasonable...I mean it stings a bit as Bradley is finally turning into a decent player and we've been waiting for these picks for so long, but as long as we could say top 5 protect the picks, I'd be happy with that trade.

Re: Dwight unhappy in Houston
The Nets' 2016 pick is basically untouchable.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Dwight over the next 12 months. I can see this being similar to the Iverson situation when he became a FA after that year in Detroit, and the only team that offered him a deal was the Grizz (whom he lasted about 7 games with).
It's become very apparent that the Dwight-Rox relationship will not end well. 4 shot attempts today against the Pels. That's ludicrous.
