What's the lowest pick/package you would you trade Marc Gasol for?

Post#1 » by robbie84 » Tue Dec 15, 2015 2:57 pm

Is it at the point yet where it's time to consider trading Marc Gasol?

What would Memphis need in order to move him?
I know the first answer is the #1 pick but what's the absolute lowest you think the Memphis front office would accept for him?
Would they take a top 3 pick? a top 5 pick+ future picks?

If possible, give an example of a deal you think would be needed to get Gasol on another team and what would Memphis have to get in return....
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

For this draft - #1 overall is the absolute lowest pick I (and almost certainly the front office) would accept for Marc Gasol.

I would take Ben Simmons for Gasol, for sure, but none of these other prospects are worth losing him for.

I'd also take a young rising star like Jabari Parker for Marc.

What would you guys be willing to take for some of your other players if the season got to the point where the front office decided to do a one year tank and mini rebuild?

Charlotte desperately needs a starting SG and an athletic backup center. What would you guys think about Al Jefferson + a lottery protected 1st for Courney Lee and Brandan Wright?

It may take moving Marc and saying NO to paying Conley max money to turn this franchise around. My fear is that Chris Wallace is not imaginative to pull that off, or would not be allowed to even if he came up with the idea, Although Ben Simmons does play for LSU so maybe he will move mountains to make it happen.

Therefore to answer your question, depends on the team,
Orlando - Payton, Oladipo, Vucecik, and Channing Frye
New York - nothing
LA Lakers - not enough assets
Charlotte - Kemba, Kidd Gilchrist, Zeller, future 1st (no protection)
Boston - Avery Bradley, James Young, RJ Hunter, (2) future 1st

After I look at it, I can't see ANY of those teams going for that, with the exception of MAYBE Boston.

I did a Marc Gasol to Boston trade recently. To me, it would be the best team in terms of Boston getting a better center to improve their mediocrity and for the Grizzlies to gain a lot of assets. I think a trade for David Lee(expiring contract), T. Zeller, T. Rozier, Grizzlies own pick back plus one of the picks the Celts got from the Nets in the KG/Pierce trade for Gasol should suffice.

Return to Memphis Grizzlies
