i think this game was the first game this season where i was at peace with doc's rotations. we actually had the starting lineup out there in the end for the first time all season i think, instead of sticking crawford in there and watching him get abused.

some stuff is a little hinky but the hope, as always, is that it'll get smoothed out. i'll definitely take that over whatever dumpster fire of issues the team was dealing with up until this point.

I'm the same as OG. Glad we got a double digit win at home. Also I didn't realize we have won 9 of our last 11 games.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I liked that we mostly went with Blake at C after the ejection and it worked pretty well for the most part. I wish Doc had at least put two forwards with him, instead of 3 of Paul/Redick/Crawford/Austin at all times, but I still like that Blake at C might end up working as a long term solution.

i've been thinking this for a little bit now. i just haven't mentioned it for fear of people thinking i'm crazy lol.

would it really be so bad if we moved DJ for better parts in the offseason, re-signed smith at another cheapo deal to be the starting PF and stuck blake at C permanently so we could come away with an actual core 5?

blake/smith/batum/redick/cp3 + actual functioning bench is something i wonder about more often than not, these days.

I don't really see it very likely to work out long term, we already have a shaky defense as is. But it's worth trying, maybe we stumble onto something like the Heat did when Bosh tore his abdomen or like the Warriors did with Lee's injury.

But if it happens, I wouldn't have a guy like Josh Smith as the 4, if it happens we need to fully commit to going small and have 3 wings that can defend either big or small, like those teams did.

it could work well in the sense that I think Blake can move his feet on the perimeter better than DJ can. Those heat teams worked so well because Bosh's defensive prowess, while he is no shot blocker, his ability to hedge on the pick and roll was instrumental in that defensive scheme working. You also had a team full of decent to above average perimeter defenders who scrambled everything.

Since Griffin is not gonna "hold down the paint" by himself it would take a concerted team effort, something I'm not sure with the current makeup we could do. Also, Griffin would have to expend alot more energy on defense, which would likely hurt his offense. This wasn't so much a problem for the Heat cuz you had Lebron and Wade and Spoelstra's system of ball movement.

Don't really know how this would work out

I'd like to think that smith would be ok because he'd be very cheap and I think a lot better in his natural PF spot and starting, than doing what he is now. He still has shown he can be a good defender so I wouldn't be worried about him switching to wings. And his passing is a weapon too in a high octane small ball offense. But certainly there's gotta be better options out there.

Also yeah I think it'd work well in regards to what blzmwt is saying. Blake's improved substantially as a defender so he could fulfill a similar role.

That said I do agree there are some big question marks and whether it'd work out for a complete season is something we'll likely never know.
