Is Cam Newton the certain MVP to you?

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Mon Dec 21, 2015 4:08 am

It seems like it is a foregone conclusion that Cam will win MVP, but I was looking at #s today, and Palmer playing in a much tougher division, seems perhaps more deserving to me. The undefeated thing is fairly important, but I don't think it is quite important in a team game and how tough schedules are.

I looked at Passer Rating. Carson is 2nd at 107.2 and Cam is 8th at 96.9. Cam does have 480 rushing yards and 7 rushing tds, so that helps big time. Carson has about 1000 more passing yards. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating

Then you look at QBR, and Palmer would rank tied for 5th all time at 83.6 while Newton is again ranked 8th, at 67.1. http://espn.go.com/nfl/qbr (I tried to post this and all time QBR but it gave me the same link, but you can see all time as an option on the page).

I don't have a problem with Cam getting it, because he has been awesome, but I don't think at all that it should be a landslide.

Not even a question after yesterday's game.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I get a vote with PFWA and right now my ballot would look like this:

1. Cam
2. R. Wilson
3. Palmer
4. A. Brown
5. Brady

Dalton would have been in there if he didn't get hurt.

The tougher vote this year will be DPOY. There's about 12 guys who deserve legit consideration

As of this moment I would have to give it to Cam. Brady and A. Brown are a very close second or honorable mention, how every you want to phrase it.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

Looking great against the worst passing defense sure is impressive.

Cam Newton should win.
I think A. Brown deserves credit for what he's done and should be runner up.

300 yards 100 rushing yards and 5 TDs is impressive no matter who its up against.

He also led another game winning drive on the road after his D just blew a 28 point lead.

Cam's been impressive, but I just don't see a compelling reason he should be ahead of Palmer given the numbers and QB rating, particularly if the Cards somehow get the 1 seed.

I'd be very curious to see what Antonio Brown would do playing with an average QB, not a bad one, just an average one. In games Ben was hurt, his production went off a cliff. After seeing what happened to Mike Wallace after leaving Pittsburgh, it at least makes me wonder how much of it is atrributed to Ben's fat, raping ass being a pretty good QB.

Still think cam should get it. Palmer has so many weapons with HBs and WRs.

What cam has done with at best avg guys is MVP worthy
