If their relationship is based on effort, well Rose is going harder of late (if not better). Not so much in NY, but don't really blame him there. Whole team was gassed.

Derrick Rose doesn't have an excuse he has missed more games than Duncan. He should suck it up taken and pretend it was a national tv game.

Congrats you add nothing but you are mad at Rose. Which is what you always post.

If Rose were the one who called out Hoiberg last night and cursed out the coaching staff during a film session, this thread would be on Page 99.

I haven't read through the rest of the thread past page 35 or so yet...

But didn't Rose blame "playcalling" in part for blowing the Phoenix game? That sounds like a direct critique of the coaches.

I wonder how Thibs feels about Rose. I also wonder how Derricks teammates felt when his brother told ESPN that the Bulls trade deadline activity would be a big factor in whether or not his brother came back from his injury before the end of the season. Let's not turn this into a Rose thread. He is also guilty of some stupidity. Most twenty somethings don't make great decisions. Suspend Jimmy for a game or two. Move on. No need for the Bulls usual games through the media mouth pieces.

I agree, Butler should have handled this better and it's a mark on his rep. Not catastrophic though.

What's more concerning is Jimmy's actions around the team. He needs to understand that he received a max deal because of his hard work. If he were stuck in a lowball deal and producing like he does, I could understand a high level of resentment. Not so much right now.

Are we really going to believe anything that the Chicago Media writes? This is the same media that ran a smear campaign from the front office to get fans to want Thibs gone. Now that everything isn't going the way they hoped with there new coach, they need somebody to blame, and since Butler isn't happy with Hoiberg. They have chosen to smear him out of town like they have done every other player or coach who has dared to disagree with their poor moves.

This is the same Chicago Media that sat on the story about Paxson going after Del Negro. They only report what Paxson wants them to report. They are friends with Pax, Pax used to be on the media side when he was the Bulls radio announcer. He is there source, so they keep his image clean while tarnishing everybody who disagrees or dares to question him. It's the reason they are the only Team Presidents/GM in Chicago not continually questioned by the Media. Ryan Pace, Theo, Kenny Williams....they all get questioned about every move they make, but not Pax and Gar. They have the media in there pockets and when they want a story killed, it gets killed immediately. If they want to smear somebody's reputation it get's done very quickly, and by everyone at once. How anybody still believes any stories written by any Bulls beat reporters is insane.

lol at this thread. Jimmy's work ethic is second to none and hes turned himself into a superstar on will alone. He can and should say whatever is on his mind that he thinks could help the team win games. Lebron says **** like he said all the time and is praised for it usually, but its terrible when Jimmy says it? Jimmy isn't Lebron, but the way hes constantly improving, hes not gonna be too far off soon.

Jimmy in an interview a week ago

Butler: Definitely. The frustrating moments last year was kinda like, Thibs just being a hard-nosed guy. He's gonna yell, he's gonna say some curse words, he's going to let you know. With right here, [Hoiberg] is going to be like, "Hey, guys, you gotta do this, you gotta do that," and then that's the end of it.

It's two totally different coaching styles. Some works for some guys, some works for others. Some guys on this roster can't take getting yelled at, some guys on this roster getting yelled at gets them going, you know what I mean? And there's nothing wrong with that. But at the end of the day, we as players know what we are capable of and what we have to do. We're all grown men, and we've been playing this game for so long a coach shouldn't have to tell us, "Hey, this is what you have to do to win this game."

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14319127/jimmy-butler-chicago-bulls-start

Jimmy Saturday night

"I believe in the guys in this locker room, yeah," Butler said. "But I also believe that we probably have to be coached a lot harder at times. I'm sorry, I know Fred's a laid-back guy, and I really respect him for that, but when guys aren't doing what they're supposed to do, you got to get on guys, myself included. You got to do what you're supposed to do when you're out there playing basketball."

He's already said these things and he's dying on this hill. To be honest, I'll say this about any player and what he says in the media: it does not bother me when he says things to the media when he says it when they're not around. However, if a player starts using the media to get a message out that he doesn't share in private, then you have a huge issue.

I think we're all in agreement that Butler should have handled this behind closed doors, but I hate to see the guy getting vilified so much. He's our best player, really puts the work in, and is a joy to watch. Hopefully this all gets resolved internally very quickly, and I'm sure it will. Let's not overreact.

Also, in Hoiberg's defense, I feel like he's done a solid job as a rookie coach. For the most part, the rotations are balanced. It's not his fault that he's got Snell and a gimpy Rose.

of course the best player in the world is going to be polarizing, some criticize him, some praise him. But nobody would ever say hes a cancer and should be traded if he said something like Jimmy said, which is what some dummies on this board are posting, which was my point.

I'm starting to think the Wolves dodged a bullet by not hiring Hoiberg. And to think Thibs might be on their radar next summer as a former Wolves assistant...

Maybe a team meeting will help? Doubt it though it seems like they never do these days

Even though I think Jimmy is right, there has to be some Bulls players that are really pissed off he is saying this stuff and I can def see the locker room being split if not more so against Jimmy....**** situation

i still believe in Hoiberg as a coach

this was just a terrible roster for him to take over. it isn't a great fit and they had tuned out a guy that raised most of the guys on the roster. it was a dumpster fire from the beginning.

with that said Thibs in Minny wouldn't be a bad look

Why would Jimmy say all this stuff if its about players like a Snell? lol

It just leads me to believe this is about a bigger player and issue, Not wack Tony Snell lol

My take on this is

1) Butler is frustrated with the sometimes lackadaisical play of some of his teammates.

2) I am disappointed to see Hioberg use the questionable, but fashionable tactic of playing only his "best" players in OT. One OT, OK. But 4 OTs in the first game of a road back to back? That's stupid IMO.

3) if you make that mistake, concede the next game and rest the overworked players. Who knows? Maybe the subs will grab the chance to pull it out. Of course they didn't get much sleep either, so write the next game off as a loss and a lesson on why Popovitch is a great coach.

4) Don't be surprised when you play your exhausted, frustrated, sleep-deprived star heavy minutes in the futile second game if he says something impolitic to reporters afterwards.

5) As fans, we should act like grown ups and ignore Jimmy's comments and move on.

Best player of his generation is so far out of Jimmy's league it is funny. You have never enough to call other people dumb. Lebron is an all time great. If he retired today instant Hall of Famer. If Jimmy call it quits today. Most of the world would be like who is he in 5 years.

We will see what kind of man analyst butler is in the coming days, weeks and months.

It is disappointing that hoiberg needed "big brother", aka front office, to fight his battles. Until proven otherwise hoiberg is a wussy coach who can't fight his own battle. Come on, fre, man up, stop hiding behind garpax's skirt.

What is this?

Criticizing the FO for being overly protective of the puppet, I mean head coach.

Questioned if butler could've handle it better.

Questioned hoiberg on needing his bosses to fight his battles.

Is that better?
