Re: Gamethread: Atlanta Hawks @ Orlando Magic - Sunday 6PM ET
Wait, how is Oladipo being force fed to us as a star? He's coming off the bench...most if not all teams "star" player is starting for them.
Even with how terrible Dipo and Harris played last night we still almost beat the Hawks, a team that finished 60-22 last season. The overreaction is real.

Re: Gamethread: Atlanta Hawks @ Orlando Magic - Sunday 6PM ET
The question is do you want Oladipo accounting for 24% of our offense? Is that the cost of us getting the defensive effort? Is the cost of defensive contributions four 3 point attempts a game at 27%? Time to reign it in a bit and see how he responds. I think you have to continue to eliminate possessions and plays run for him until you reach that level where he is happy enough with offense to provide us with defense. We may be there now, idk, it's a hard thing to judge. He's got to find something that he is efficient at and focus on that and that alone on offense.

I think we need CJ Watson back. Right now Oladipo is the only viable option off the bench to consistently handle the ball and run the offense. Shabazz is too streaky and that's why lately we've even tried having Mario bring the ball up (which has looked terrible).
I think if CJ comes back we'll see Oladipo become more efficient, because he'll play a little more off the ball again and won't have to rely so much on ISOs.

I think he has been outstanding on the short jumper on the way to the rim. He really needs to keep attacking that way. I think he hits well over 45% on those. I love his and Tobes effort. Shots were not falling but we were right there. We need to win tonight. I find this game more important than last nights. Now that I am settled into my new home I can start watching these games again.

This is the thing that irritates most about Skiles. Ripping rookie's defense for one 3 on him? Seriously?
Double standards. Evan and Dipo are untouchable obviously, even though they mostly play below average and just plain stupid, while Mario constantly gets bashed from the coach for even the slightest mistake he makes.
Nice way to treat your rookie Scott
Not sure what you were watching but I saw Hezonja being taken advantage of on more than just a 3. He came in and immediately had a couple buckets scored on him. The reason he's getting ripped is because he's making very basic fundamental mistakes on defense. He's not getting caught trying to help and getting burned by a corner 3, or playing good defense and getting bad whistles. A good portion of the time Hezonja looks just a step too slow on defense. It happens with rookies, especially those not used to the fast pace of the NBA. Payton struggled at the start of last season because he wans't used to the pace and speed of the game. Things happen so quickly you're often just struggling to keep up.
For this game, I gotta give the dunce cap to Victor. I was really annoyed when Jeff Turner was basically talking about how Victor is playing like a All-Defensive 1st Team player and then he went and got burned by Korver by at least two, maybe even three 3s in the fourth quarter. Your job if you're defending Korver is to stick him, especially when he's having a good night (which he was). But Victor can't help himself, he just HAS to cheat down and double on players and apply pressure, but Korver knows to pop out at that moment and drained multiple threes.
We should've won that game, but there are just going to be nights like this one.
What game did u watch?!?
Mario steal ball in excellent defence and make dunk
Played very good defence and has one more shoot, 2/2
But oladipo has first part of his show and because he makes everyone on court invisible and with a lot of his mistakes skiles put him on the bench and hezonja with him like they are siam twins
He said oladipo hides hezonja 's bad defensive but yesterday weren't that
Second time there were two and1 on hezonja and he deserve bench
And that was one his mistake and other team mistake
How many mistakes had evan, oladipo and others?
A tones
But noooo, rookie isn't allowed to have 2 mistakes
And because of that there were no one to put 3s
Smith was on bench too
Fournier doesn't has balls
Oladipo throws bricks
Only vuc could hit it but he get ball too late
So,,,bravo skiles

As a 2nd unit scorer partnered with Nicholson, yeah, I'm happy to let Oladipo have his fill of shots in that role. It's been one of the elements that has helped us win several games. Yes, he's up and down, but who's more capable of driving an offense all by themselves out of Fournier, Harris and Vuc?
Has anyone got Oladipo's numbers since he moved to the bench?
**EDIT: just looked them up.
He's putting up...
14ppg on 43% shooting (5/12fgas)
0.8/3 3fgas (27%)*
3.46ftas
4.4rbs
4.2apg
1.3spg
1bpg
2.5tos
2.7pfs
His 3's generally aren't that bad. Apart from a couple of really cold nights (0/2 or 0/4), he generally hits around 35% of his shots from deep.
Yes, getting more efficiency out of him would be great, but he is who he is at this point, IMO, and I'm happy with that.

Why is it ok for Fournier to have millions of games in a row of complete suckage, but Dipo has one and he's a terrible person that needs to be traded? Peoples expectations and emotions with different players swings wildly all over the place depending on the player around here.

Random question.
I have comcast cable that shows Foxsports FL. However, I won't be home for the game. Do you guys know if you can stream the game through comcast online?
Thanks!

Thank you!

I agree 100%. Skiles is actually adapting to his players. Dipo needs the ball and what better way than with the second unit. He's been outstanding and his defense and rebounding have been phenomenal.
