Pretty sure the Spurs miss Temple. Great signing by the Wiz and cheap!

I'm proud to say I've been Temple's most consistent supporter on this board. Yay for me!

The late Flip Saunders had a soft spot for guards like Trenton Hassell, journeymen who never seemed to hurt a team.

Without looking it up I think he called up Cartier Martin.

Also without looking it up, I think Randy Wittman called up Temple after Garrett had a "run" with the Spurs.

(Feel free to jar my memory if I'm wrong!)

Temple is getting better IMO. CJ Miles beat out my guy Mo Almond. Alonzo Gee hung around after the Wizards called him up and passed after a 10-day. Last I checked, Gee was still in the league. Temple is here to stay as well.

Temple needs to be re-upped.

Every time people have bashed Temple and said he needed to be cut so we can find other talent, I've disagreed. I've always pointed out that Temple is a solid utility knife kind of player who can fill in at PG, SG or SF in a pinch, and can be used as a situational defender. He's perfect as a 5th guard. I always liked him and was happy when he was resigned.

His middle name is Bartholomew. Love the way that rolls off the tongue.

When he used to play backup pg he was really awful. He is certainly better on the wing where he doesn't have to handle the ball as much.

All Hail the magnificent GT.

FWIW, I have criticized his ability to hit shots but I've don't believe I've ever gone as far as saying he
should be cut. If he shoots it modestly well, he can be a helpful player to have around. You gotta like
a guy who's happy to be here, doesn't cause chemistry issues and works hard on and off the court to
become better.

Temple's on/off ratio is +15.5. The team is 6-2 when he starts.

Beal has a -5.6 on/off ratio. The team is 7-10 when he starts.

Interesting that ESPN has him at roughly a net zero in RPM. Still way ahead of Beal who is at -2.73.

The most surprising aspect of Temple's development isn't his improved J or handles. Lots of guys improve their skills if they put in the time on the practice court. It's the fact that Temple is a more explosive finisher at the rim -- which is usually predicated on athleticism.

Temple is no Sprewell in his prime, but two years ago, Temple struggle to finish around players -- even on fast breaks. He would frequently get blocked. Now he's a decent slasher -- which is a dramatic improvement for him.

Perhaps Temple is the greatest beneficiary of the (moderately) improved spacing this year's offense generates.

closg00 wrote:Please remember just a few games ago Temple committed two bone-headed turnovers in-a-row during a crucial part of a game. Early-on he hurt us on the offensive side in the ball, his shooting was lousy.

With additional playing time both Temple and Sessions have gotten comfortable within their own games and have really helped the team. I aways advocated for a back-up PG who can score off the dribble and comfortably knock-down shots when we needed it. I thought Temple was expendable, but as PIF and others have pointed-out, we are getting great value from an EG signing ....finally :)
