Splitting HWs is the only necessary adjustment imo. If you create that many divisions, you'll kill the sport. The less divisions, especially at the lower weight classes the better. Talk about saturation.
Adding a 115 division would be a nightmare to me. I already don't enjoy the 125/135 divisions. 145 is the lowest I have interest in.
Cut the number of cards to 24 in a year, and add a 225 division. That works for me. Getting rid of cards where I can't picture who anyone outside of the title fight is works for me.

Headliner you should pay attention to 135, getting more fun all the time with guys like Garbrandt and Sterling coming up. If Edgar ends up there it will be even better. Dominic/Dillashaw is one of my more anticipated fights ever. I admit Faber is a little stale to me.
I also don't see why the hell you guys want to take the worst division in the sport and split the talent in half. God HW already sucks enough.

Maybe they should wait until people recognize the 125 division before creating a 115 division. I mean, Mighty Mouse is now the #1 P4P ranked fighter, but he's the worst draw as a champion, right? If they can't sell Mighty Mouse, how the hell can they sell the 115 division?

It's going to be nasty in the short term (though I'm not opposed to Mark Hunt being the 265 champion) but will pay off in the medium and long term. 225 is typically around where most elite HWs weigh in and there are plenty of guys at 205 that cut 30+ pounds. Few HWs are above 6'3" or so, which would be tall for 205 but not abnormal... I don't know. I think there's a lot of legitimate 200+ pound men doing their careers damage to avoid the 50 pounds between them and the guys like Struve and Overreem that are legit heavies. If these divisions were in place now, you might have seen Mir's career play out at 225, JDS, Cain. Could give Bones the ability to be a three division champ. Lots of superfight potential.
It's like needing a division between LW and WW... too many guys are 162.

The difference of course being that LW and WW are probably the two deepest divisions in the sport and HW is probably the worst (for male UFC divisions anyways).
It is unfortunate though for fighters who are a legit (low fat) 240 and don't want to make a cut down to 205, and so they have to face a rare guy who has to legit cut weight to 265 like Lesnar.
I think best would be to not do day before weigh ins, and have a system like college wrestling where there's medical exams that determine your lowest allowed competition weight. Then we could better see what weight classes we'd need, and we could get better fights from people not weight cutting.

For sure, and most men will be in the 150-180 range... but I do think the 60lb potential variance in the weight class and SHW being non-existent has played a part in the rubbish HW scene today.
Agreed with this. I don't know anything about it, but doctors vouching for your competition weight works for me.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets/Etc., Vol. 4
I would be fine with the 162. Or else maybe just 150, 160, 170. There is so much talent spread across LW and WW and somewhat FW that its ridiculous. I feel like the gaps between 170 and 185 and even 185 to 205 are ridiculous. Once this sport starts actually paying like a real professional sport and the talent gets better, I think you may see some of this change.
EDIT: I missed some of the details of sdm's initial post somehow. I hate the idea of either LHW or HW being diluted but still think some lower weight classes could benefit.

Are we doing those end of the year voting things?
Story of the year has lots of possibilities.
Rousey reached a new height for mainstream MMA popularity and then lost, Conor's hype train fulfilled, on going Reebok cluster ****, new drug testing measures, Kimbo vs. Shamrock
, probably missed something.

Am I the only one who regularly watches Kingdom?
It's the only fictional depiction of MMA that I've seen which isn't cheesy, shallow, or grossly inaccurate. A lot of the details and issues are true to life. For example, they cast Cecil Peoples to play a ref, as he does in real life, and sure enough he colossally blundered the pretend fight they had going.
Plus, I enjoy Frank Grillo more than Jason Statham or someone like that in the tough guy role. There's more depth there. He was a big part of making Purge: Anarchy the rare sequel that's better than the prequel. They got a chunk of their cast from that movie.

A clast is a fragment of geological detritus, chunks and smaller grains of rock broken off other rocks by physical weathering.

I don't buy that the division is unfair to smaller heavyweights like Werdum, Cain, JDS, and Fedor.
And if we have a HW and superheavyweight divison, and the HW division has Bones, JDS, Cain, Overeem, and The Black Fedor, that would be cool but then the LHW and SHW divisons would be terrible.
I agree with REDD that adding a division in between LW and WW or WW and MW would make the most sense. They could have bouts between 2 guys who are draws for the first ever title without having watered down divisions.

Julianna Pena allegedly kicked two men in groin, leading to assault arrest
An alleged victim and two witnesses told officers that Pena and Josh Gow, her training partner on the Sikjitsu fight team, attempted to enter Zola's bar after being involved in a street fight. Witnesses said Gow's face was covered in blood from the brawl and the two wanted to use the bathroom to get Gow cleaned up. Bar employees told Pena and Gow that the establishment was closed and they could not come in, which prompted Pena to become "irate," according to one witness.
Witnesses said that Pena kicked a bar employee in the groin and then, while outside the business, kicked the owner in the groin twice. Gow did not get physical with anyone, witnesses said, and was described as being clearly drunk. The two attempted to enter Zola's again, witnesses said, but were locked out. Gow then rubbed his bloody face on the bar's front window, according to witnesses.
Sgt. Eric Kannberg said in his report that he was responding to a "large fight" outside another bar, called Globe, nearby. He then walked to Zola's and came into contact with Pena and Gow outside. Kannberg wrote that they had "obviously been drinking."
Kannberg said Pena told him that they had been involved in a fight with 20 people outside Globe, Gow had suffered a facial injury and she wanted to take him to Zola's to clean up because she knew the owner. Pena said that employees at Zola's didn't let them in because Gow was bleeding, according to Kannberg. Pena indicated that they had then left, Kannberg said. He wrote that he asked Pena if anything happened and she said no.

Re: Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets/Etc., Vol. 4
One with an aggressive new weigh in policy.
Maybe too aggressive.
1. Athletes must submit their current walking weight and daily training weight regularly. Athletes will input and track their daily weight online via a dedicated web portal. Athletes may input data weekly but must include daily weights.
2. Athletes will be assigned to their weight class based on collated data and random weight checks. Athletes are not allowed to drop a weight class when less than 8 weeks out from an event.
3. During fight week, weights are checked daily. Urine specific gravity will also be checked the day after arrival and 3 hours prior to the event. Athletes must be within their weight class and pass specific gravity hydration tests all week and up to 3 hours before the event. If an athlete falls outside the weight, or fails a test, they are disqualified from the event. Doctors may request additional testing at their discretion.
4. Catch weight bouts are allowed. However, the athlete with the higher weight will not be heavier than 105% of the lighter opponent’s weight.
5. ONE will conduct random weight checks on athletes at our discretion.
6. Athletes may petition to change weight classes outside of the 8-week competition zone and must be within their new desired weight at that time. In addition, athletes must pass a specific gravity urine test when their weight is within the limits of the newly petitioned weight class. ONE doctors can request additional testing to determine the amount of weight drop allowed over a specific time.
7. The usage of IVs for the purpose of rehydration will not be allowed.
Overage and limits of weight reduction:
· 3 weeks to event day: Athlete must be within contracted weight class
· 4 weeks: 1.5% bodyweight over max
· 5 weeks: 3%
· 6 weeks: 4.5%
· 7 weeks: 6%
· 8 weeks: +6% max over.
(ONE Chief Doctor may approve up to +/- 0.5% maximum error in any weekly weight check)
Maybe too aggressive.

Nick Diaz discussing GSP on You're Welcome
- claims he (Diaz) was high as a kite, was planning for it to be his last fight
- claims GSP used steroids
- neither guy was tested for anything
- GSP supposedly was 3lbs over weight and Diaz lobbied immediately for a rematch (claims he might have been as much as 7lbs over)
- He was unable to see the scale
- they peed directly into a film container, which was sealed with scotch tape which then had their names written on them

Diaz is such a dolt. He believes his own deceptions.
