Nats' Ryan Zimmerman Named in Manning PED Scandal

Post#1 » by pineappleheadindc » Sun Dec 27, 2015 7:46 am

Whoa,

The report implicating Peyton Manning with performing enhancing drugs has also named Ryan Zimmerman. IF true, it sure will destroy his good guy image.

FWIW, read it here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/peyton-manning-human-growth-hormone_567f16e4e4b0b958f6599440?6pw4s4i

Two guys that are done due to injury and turn to PEDS to stay healthy? Wouldn't shock me or even bother me really

Eh, I've grown a bit suspicious of a lot of these reports. Do we really think that a massively rich guy like Manning would use a 2-bit "pharmacist" that would so easily spill the beans to a complete non-star like Liam Collins that he barely knows? The same Liam Collins that apparently has a history of lying for personal gain?

More broadly I just have trouble believing that, after the very first MLB investigation that implicated so many big names, people would be so careless with information that can expose their biggest (and richest) clients. I would expect this be a very secretive, referral only business that you have to try really hard to break into at that level. Not a collection of bumbling fools that you can just bust wide open by essentially cold-calling and hiding a camera in a backpack.

Not saying it can't be true, but it seems like this is what happened: A guy with a background of fraud basically sends out a bunch of letters and just happens to find the same guys that provided PEDs to some of the biggest names in sports, who then immediately take him on as a client with no apparent suspicion and then openly discuss those same big name clients with a guy they just met while he just happens to have a hidden camera in his bag. That doesn't strain credulity just a bit?

Broncos released a statement for Manning:

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Please see below for a statement from the Denver Broncos on Peyton Manning:

“Knowing Peyton Manning and everything he stands for, the Denver Broncos support him 100 percent. These are false claims made to Al Jazeera, and we don’t believe the report.

“Peyton is rightfully outraged by the allegations, which he emphatically denied to our organization and which have been publicly renounced by the source who initially provided them.

“Throughout his NFL career, particularly during his four seasons with the Broncos, Peyton has shown nothing but respect for the game. Our organization is confident Peyton does things the right way, and we do not find this story to be credible.”

I'm interested to see where this goes. Could be nothing, but if it has legs it'll be interesting to see the fallout.

Given the 'golden boy' status he has, I could envision Peyton Manning feeling he's above suspicion or reproach.

Manning almost in tears in a live interview having to deny the allegations that the story's star "source" has already admitted he made up to try to make money. Tough to watch, and really fell bad for him because there will still be millions of people who just see headlines and make assumptions.

Zimm's probably totally guilty, though. :P
