Would be helpful for pre-draft ones, and ones post-draft when we knew who was available at #5. From my impression, no one thought Rubio would be available at #5. So it was a surprise when he made it there. Was there any Curry talk at #5 pre-draft?

That year's draft thread is here.
There's talk right from the start about Stephen Curry and Ricky Rubio. Doc mentions Patty Mills on page one. On December 1, 2008, Dat describes Curry as "damn near a perfect player."

There's at least one more thread somewhere about that draft, but search function isn't working for me and I'm tired of googling. :)

GRIF-FIN! GRIF-FIN! GRIF-FIN! GRIF-FIN!

I wanna hear some kickin' BeeGees tunes at the Phone Booth next year....

Edit to add: I'm watching the OU-Davidson game now. Griffin is a monster. It's not like Davidson has a great front line, but he's just toying with them. If he plays the rest of the game, he'll probably be averaging 20-20 after the first 3 games. And he's shooting 7-11 from the floor. That's 64%. And it's 20% lower than his season average. (Curry's having a nice game too, but he's having to work for it.) But Griffin is off the charts. Please, Mr. Stern, please hook us up this year!

Maybe, but shoot I want Dell Curry's boy more than ever. By year's end I expect he'll be in contention for #1 overall. Kid can score, has game recognition, will demonstrate his Point skills this year. Plays biggest on the biggest stage. I'd tank the rest of the year if it meant we guaranteed pulling his name. That's the kid. His stat progression is impeccable, gets better every year in all the little intangibles you want to see in a guard. And come tournament time he singlehandedly wins games despite defenses designed to deny him. Calm under fire. Scurry. Kid is something special.

If you could pick now, who'd you want: Blake Griffin or Stef Curry...

Man, the 2016 free agency pools is pretty damn depressing. So much potential for Grunfeld to wreck this franchise for the next 3-4 years.

Yet Grunfeld still decided on Mike Miller. Lol

If you're so concerned with Stephen Curry then go become a fan of the Warriors while I root for the all star eastern conferences best pg John Wall.

Sure, let's ignore the great draft pick of Oubre Jr. Let's ignore the Temple acquisition and his phenomenal play stepping in for Brad. Let's ignore Sessions being one of the best backup pgs in the NBA this year. Let's ignore the 3 game win streak with MAJOR injuries. Let's ignore the superb coaching and outstanding play of the eastern conferences best pg.

However let's focus on a few missed draft picks years ago and judge the teams GM based on that. What fans we have!

You get judged on your body of work. EG's ability to eye talent outside of the top 3 (and quite frankly we still don't know what to make of Beal and Porter given their up and down play) is not benefiting your platform. Great that Oubre is playing well, happy for him. EG fans get to enjoy their chubbies too, but that doesn't absolve years of systemic incompetence. That is some "special" brand of thinking right there.

Careful, don't give these mods ideas. Get your name in blue font and all of a sudden your trigger finger gets itchy for some bannings.

Oubre might turn out to be EG's best pick outside the top 3 since Michael Redd.

Wonder if Grunfeld knows who Roderick Bobbitt is?

I've got nothing bad to say. Just subliminal messages (Michael Gbinije). Good luck to Ernie (Buddy Heild)!

......but fans on this board know that Grunfeld doesn't look for guys like Eddie during FA, he signs "vets". Were it not for injuries, EG wouldn't have bothered with Eddie. Now-though, I hope Eddie continues to knock-em down, and we end-up stealing a player from the Spurs

The Post is reporting that Anderson is still 3-5 weeks away from returning. Ernie is beyond stupid, he way over paid for a player who probably will never play this season.

Why should we ignore all those things, you silly Milly? We can just ignore you! Wouldn't that be easier?

If Anderson misses the whole season, it would seem like bad luck more than anything. I would have preferred someone like David West but West wanted to play with the Spurs. I'm not really sure who the Wizards could have gotten for anything longer than a 1 year deal. In retrospect, the Wizards would have been wise to go after someone like Will Barton- but then again, I can understand why the Wizards didn't because they do not want to give up their flexibility for 2016.

For now Oubre/Temple and even Neal when he's been healthy have been good enough. We are still living in small sample size theater but even so, at least Oubre is getting minutes to further his development. The Wizards have been able to sign a young wing in Eddie anyways.

I don't see how the bad luck card can be played here. Anderson had ankle surgery before we signed him so his injury was known when the decision was made to offer him a contract. A very generous offer was made with no assurances of when/if he would ever be able to play this year. Bad management, not bad luck.

GSW is a team comprised mostly of players EG passed-on in the draft.
