i guess look forward to dj 20/20 games again or something? i hope he gets jump started and closer to last year's form with blake being out.

No, Quake. You're right on with this one. This is major news and deserves its own thread that won't have more temporary views. In fact, I posted a separate thread from the game thread, but you beat me to it so I deleted it. Thanks for the consideration, though.

Re: Blake out with Torn Quad
obviously having our #1 scorer out for minimum 2 weeks is a terrible news but there are a couple of goods that comes out from this.
#1 ) CP will have to assert himself and will have to become more aggressive offensively, which we all want.
#2) Josh Smith who is currently out of the rotation will have to be inserted back and potentially as a starter. he will finally get a chance to translate his personal skills into becoming a positive addition to our team.
#3) Dawson may finally get to play minutes... any minutes.
#4) in the west, we won't get a homecourt for the conference finals anyway, just get in regardless of the seedings and be at our best when the first round's game 1 starts.
#5) watch DJ become a dominant force down low.

Injuries seem to always help this team in terms of giving guys confidence. We'll see what happens though

AHHHHH! Wait, so does Josh Smith start at PF now?
Josh confirmed to be starting, that's going to be interesting.
Waiting for MartintoVaught to come and somehow blame this on Chris Paul and him making $108 million

This sucks though, I'll miss seeing him Wednesday night

Missed CP in a game at MSG 4 years ago too. Oh well. Hope DJ steps up like he did last year in Blake's absence. Get well soon 32!

Yeah, and add to the list that if we don't get a top 5 record, we get Brooklyn's 2nd rounder which looks like it's gonna be the 33rd pick, so essentially a late 1st value wise. I thought we were gonna have a top 5 record in the end inevitably, but now it seems feasible that we may not have it and still get the 4th seed in the west, probably best case scenario right now.
Plus, Blake gets some rest which is always needed when the post season comes around.
About Josh Smith as a starter, I'm not sure it can work as long as Luc is our starting SF, the spacing wouldn't be great, but surely Doc's gonna have to play him a bunch still, even if it's from the bench? I guess it'll depend on his attitude.

That's it. I can't agree with you guys more than that.
Plus, we will see Jamal-Wes-Josh-Lance-Luc more so we see which one of them will take a step further when we need it most. Yesterday, undoubtly that guy was Pierce but tomorrow will be a new battle for the first guy on the bench spot. The ones who failed to adopt will be giving us a reason to trade them as an expired contract.

Re: Blake out with Torn Quad
My thoughts exactly- I also don't like that Blake got hurt, but am looking forward to seeing how things go because there are some goods that come out of it. I feel like our team has been a record player set on repeat for a couple of years, except the same songs seem to be getting old. This forces the team (by that I mainly mean Doc Rovers) to take a step back and develop some sort of new plan. If there's any potential in any of our bench guys or younger players to assert themselves, now is the time.
If we basically just try to carry on as we have all season, it will end badly. Of course it was not going well to begin with.
I think when you have very high expectations as the Clippers do, especially after last year's playoff failure, there is a lot of pressure to have to improve or maintain, there is no room for experimentation, letting new players find their groove and develop a comfort factor, etc. Because the prevailing understanding was that if you didn't finish in the top 4 of a very competitive West, there was no way you were going to survive the playoffs much less get into the Finals.
It's great to have high expectations for a season, but that gives less wiggle room for trying new things. Blake's injury is going to force us to change things up.

Re: Blake out with Torn Quad
honestly i don't think blake being out for two weeks changes much. the WC is mega weak right now and we've always had the talent to fill in when these kinds of things happen. in the regular season it's pretty easy to just ramp up some roles and hold the ship steady.
now, does that help our championship prospects? hell no. i'd say it's pretty painful because this team has zero continuity outside of its core 4, and losing blake ruptures everything. any real progress we're trying to make is placed on hold for a minimum of two weeks (and i suspect much longer). that said, we might see some guys actually figure out their roles with the extra play time, and doc might actually have to play lineups which might actually work (separation of pierce and crawford, anyone?)

it's 8:22 PM and I just came home from work. and I see that Josh played exactly 0 minutes? WTF?is Doc already giving up on his own signing after just a quarter way through this season? if so, shouldn't the coach Doc hold the GM Doc liable for such a bad fit signing? or the GM Doc hold the coach Doc responsible for not allowing his signing get accustomed to the way things are ran around here?
either way, this is getting ridiculous.

heh, should have seen what he said about dudley in pregame. basically said he was shipped out because he was bad, even though doc forced him to play through injury.
i absolutely despise the guy. blames everyone else for his mistakes and he refuses to admit that he has zero eye for personnel.

Re: Blake out with Torn Quad
It's been hinted pretty heavily that Josh is more worried about his minutes and numbers than the team winning, so him going to the doghouse just as Blake gets injured is pretty much Doc trying to show him who's in charge. You can make the argument he has a propensity to send guys to the doghouse, but you don't watch the team in the locker room every day.
About Dudley, that's just a revisionist and ignorant take on the subject. Weren't you guys following the team when he was here? I remember a similar vibe about Dudley here than there is currently about Jamal, just neverending hate and asking for him to be traded away. Then Dudley makes some press excuses about an injury on a podcast with Zach Lowe and now it's all Doc's fault. Like everything is apparently.
This place is becoming unbearable, so much whining based on hot takes and idiotic reasoning I'd rather go to the GB and comment the game with Warriors fans than you lot. I'm handing ignores left right and center

Re: Blake out with Torn Quad
i wasn't posting on these forums at the time but i imagine it was certainly like most other ones i read. people absolutely wanted to kill dudley. very few (myself included) wanted to see him figure it out and get himself right. i remember when he was shipped out a lot of places were delirious with glee, as well.
that said, i don't see what's ignorant about the facts: doc said he would have stayed if he was better, but doc had him play through injury. i remember even back then wanting to see him get some more time off and i was surprised he was back on the court so soon. did dudley play his part in being out of shape? sure. but not once have i seen doc take the blame for not giving dudley a chance to get back to full health, and that goes onto a long list of things doc's avoided blame for.
