Realistic Free Agent targets for this offseason
So assuming we get through the season without the wheels completely falling off, make the playoffs, and have a winning record (approx. 43-48 wins), I personally think we would be a desirable spot for a high impact free agent to sign. Think about it, we have no income tax, nice weather which is great for a family, we have a young and rising team, and most importantly, we have no star. Basically, we are saying to any star out there that the keys to the team are all theirs, and if they come here they will have about as good of a supporting cast of young guys on the rise as you could find. All they just have to sign the dotted line. This past offseason we managed to attract Paul Millsap but just couldn't quite get it over the line, and that was with a 25 win team. So you would have to think that by turning that promise into actual wins, we would be a really tempting destination. Who wouldn't want to just walk into a situation where they have a young gun team on the rise that they can lead? Its the dream. Also, don't forget that last offseason, most big name players steered clear of the big market teams with little promise such as LA and NY, and instead signed with smaller market teams with teams on the rise. So this gives me even more hope.
So, with that being said, who is available? Who should we target? What skills should we target? How much cap will we actually have? For me, I think Horford would be just about the best possible outcome for us. But is that realistic?
Discuss.

Yes. Pursue the tall nerdy guy with the glasses. He'll do.

Nobody I realistically think would come here next year that would help elevate this team (Outside of Durant)... I think you look to the following year with Paul George/James Harden and hopefully improved/experienced roster.

Re: Realistic Free Agent targets for this offseason
Not sure of any realistic ones. I think priority 1 would be getting everyone we have signed to a cap-friendly contract. Only replacing them with similar replacements if they are financially beneficial. Maybe the only direction we consider going is a more reliable backup PG, or a defensive backup PF, but I'm pretty good with what we got unless a Durant-type is coming I'm complacent.

I had been thinking about him lately - as floor spacing is such a huge factor for this roster...but then I saw him defend tonight and it reminded me why I had been so against him as a target whenever someone brought him up.

Re: Realistic Free Agent targets for this offseason
Al Horford is a good target. The offseason following that, I'd love for us to pursue Ibaka. Westbrook is also a FA that summer. Obviously we would all be ecstatic to have KD join our club, but there are a few smaller names that could really help our immediate needs, like maybe JJ Hickson.
I personally believe that we are sitting on a gold mine in AG and he will blossom all at once for us.
I'm also predicting that Henny will schmooze some team into taking Victor for some very valuable assets.

Re: Realistic Free Agent targets for this offseason
I honestly think the Magic will try make a splash move in free agency. Whether they accomplish this is another matter. Go all in on Durant, what could it hurt? I can honestly see the Magic trading Gordon and maybe Oladipo for him if he tells OKC he won't come back. I could see that being beneficial on a couple fronts. It would put some balance on the roster and perhaps even allow the team to pursue an Al Horford also, who's contracts shouldn't be getting larger at this point in his career.

Re: Realistic Free Agent targets for this offseason
I'd prefer to go the trade route and free agency. But one thing is for sure... at this point, if we're picking between Fourier and Oladipo, I'm going with Fournier. Oladipo has been my biggest let down BY FAR. I expected a monster leap this year. I just prefer Fournier and Hezonja next to Payton.

I don't see during going anywhere. He is the entire city and face of the team. West is getting weaker and East is getting more competitive now. Might be easier to stay on the west coast.
Look for add in free agents this offseason like we did with Jason Smith and CJ and save our money for Ibaka in 2017.

I can't believe people are suggesting things like trading away talent such Oladipo and AG. Give them time guys, they're finding their roles on the roster. Remember its taken a few seasons to get this roster together and in a position that makes us a worthwhile destination and better yet playing as a solid NBA team.
I don't think we should break the bank for a player even of Durant's cailbar. That being said I'm sold on trying to lure Horford his polish is what this roster probably needs and as a FA we can get him IMO

Wait!? You want to keep 'potentially* good players instead trying to trade for the 2nd/3rd best in the entire world?

Stay in the West, deal with Warriors and Spurs in the playoffs. Go to the East, face a slightly more beatable Cavs team. I'd still go East if I wanted the easier route.

I personally have him as the best player in the world since the beginning of his MVP season.
But, this offseason we HAVE to at least try for Durant. Swing for the fences. If he doesn't come, so be it. Go for Horford or preserve capspace for the following year. If we landed Durant though, we'd be the favorites in the East. Same with the Wizards or Knicks if he went to either of those two, imo. I just think we'd be the best option for him because of age and depth. We are the youngest of those teams and have his wingman here in Vuc.
In all honesty though, I just think he needs to get far away from Westbrook. He thinks he's so much better than Durant and would rather chuck up a bad shot than give it to Durant. Durant needs the ball in his hands in the 4th. He's shown time and time again that he will convert in the 4th, one of the most clutch players in the game. . . If not the most clutch player.

Nobody, you are gonna let walk at least one guy between Nicholson, Smith and Dedmon and cover that spot with your 1st round pick, then re-sign Fournier and you are pretty much set in terms of rotation, maybe adding a vet if there is an open roster spot.
But no need to spend on the FA market, not much available that makes sense.

A lot depends on who we trade on our current roster! Would this team sign KD this off season even with AG and TH12 at on the roster?
I know it's early but what does this team do with AG? If he didn't have that jaw injury set back this past summer he would have had been a starter IMO.
This team needs a elite rim protector badly and have high hopes for AG and Hezonja to mature quickly as the 3/2.
So we are looking at Hassan Whiteside or Kevin Durant (Option A) as of right now (With D12 as option B), but again a lot depends on what happens with
our current roster as far as trades.

Neither you are player for KD, neither he is going to test the market this summer, he will wait until 2017
Vucevic is better than Whiteside, especially for this team, and they cant play together, Howard and Durant wont consider Orlando at all.
