Just like if Jah was good enough to be that dude, then Noel and Embiid would suddenly have no place here and no one would bat an eye. If like if we got LeBron and being like ....well but Ish needs the ball doe. Great players dictate a lot of stuff. Hell, that is why we forced Noel into learning how to play the 4...in order to play with Embiid.
Besides, Simmons would not be a Jah situation. Even if he cannot play the 3 (I think people write that off too soon actually), he fits perfectly next to all 3 of our bigs. Hell, I could even see a crazy ass small ball lineup with Saric and Simmons running ****. But bottom line, if dude is good enough then two of our bigs will be moved or be ok with coming off the bench. Embiid for one can't be relied on and probably won't be able to handle starters minutes even if he could. So my bet he comes off the pine for his first year or two anyway. Saric seems like a great 6th man type as well.
and again while we need shooters...we also need creators or hell wings that don't die the moment they "try" to dribble.
You are completely right that great players will force the other guys to adjust to them, and won't have to adjust to the other players.
I think Simmons is a point forward and he can play either the 3 or the 4. On our team, as currently constructed, he will fit best at the 3. However, if he turns into a true franchise player, then you probably put him in the best position for him, even if it is the 4, and then trade other pieces to shape the roster.
This is why I am not crazy about playing Embiid at the 4. His BEST position is going to be the 5 most likely, and his talent is such that I would like to maximize his effectiveness even if it presents fit problems with Noel and Okafor.
I am not one to be concerned about fit at all really. I mean, I emotionally want the players that we have to fit with each other, but if they don't, I think that we can always make changes via trade that can even out the roster, as long as our players are developing and maintaining their value.
There are teams out there that are guard and wing heavy like the Celtics and Magic that have the inverse problem. A trade of a single player between our teams can scratch both itches as the same time.
Ultimately, if we get Simmons, and Embiid can stay healthy then in just those two players we will have the best young core in the league. We can move the rest of the pieces around to accommodate them in time.
