Chip Kelly let go

Thoughts?
When asked how Fascism starts, Bertrand Russell once said:
"First, they fascinate the fools. Then, they muzzle the intelligent."

sounds like it had less to do with his coaching and more to do with his personnel failures. weird timing though.

Went for it and it back fired but in hindsight a lot of his risks were iffy and no one ever goes all in on Sam Bradford even if it ended up being a trade neither team benefited from. It also looks like DeMarco Murray was forced onto him. You can appreciate the ambition he showed though, he could easily have produced a few 10-6 seasons and saved his job.

By all accounts, I have always heard he was a very smart, innovative guy. If you believe that about someone, which the Eagles apparently did, I think you have to accept that he might fumble around a little bit before he gets it figured out. I was one of the few that thought letting McCoy go wasn't a bad deal. The bad end of that was probably the fact Murray ended up being a dud for them. Even after this season, his career record is above .500. I think you give him at least one more year unless there was something going on behind the scenes I don't know about. Pete Carroll was in his 7th career year as a HC before he broke the .500 mark and he is now one of the most respected coaches in the league. After the end of his second year in Seattle, his 3rd HC job in the NFL, mind you, it would have been pretty easy to have just written him off as a "college guy" which I'm hearing a lot of people labeling Kelly.

Very odd timing. Why not wait until the season is over?

Should be interesting hearing the reaction around Philly today.

I'd like to see him end up in Tennessee. He and Mariota could make a nice pairing.

Outside of that though, not a whole lot of Chip Kelly caliber jobs available. Almost all the major college vacancies have been filled as far as I know.

Texas can and should fire Strong if Kelly wants to go back to college.

Well deserved. I'm sure some desperate team will hire him. I wouldn't trust the guy.

I don't think Kelly wants to return to the NCAA just yet.

Philly is a tough place to start as a first time NFL coach. He needs to go a market where there is less pressure.

Unless he learns to change some of his ways he'll never have much success in the NFL. I was a huge fan of his hiring and would've like to have seen him given the chance to rectify his mistakes, but I can see why it was time to move on. He lost the lockeroom. Once that happens to a head coach, it's over.

Looks like he's going to the Browns. RIP Kelly's NFL career.

I was hoping he would stay with the Egals, personally.

Kelly wants to be the HC of the Niners and I don't know how I feel about this. Is it too late to bring back harbaugh? :(

Kelly is a good coach, but nothing amazing. The hurry up up tempo stuff doesn't really work in the NFL with limited and older rosters. He needs talent to win with like every coach and he was so arrogant he just let all his great players go. He deserved to fail.

With that said, if he goes to a team with a good GM that can draft the talent that he needs, and is humble enough to accept that it's talent and not his schemes that win, then he can be successful.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

SCAPEGOAT! Think about it, who has enough money to retain Desean Jackson. Lesean McCoy. Jeremy maclin. Etc. The front office said, go ahead Chip, feel free to release those guys since we don't have the cash to retain them. Then after chip released those guys, chip took the blame. And now ownership jumps on the bandwagon and conveniently blames Chip. Very good scheme they used over there in philly.

Exactly! Think about this nefarious plan of Philly. They knew they had to let go of fan favorite and local kid Lesean McCoy. His lifespan is done if not very very short.(see buffalo). But instead of releasing a guy like that and drawing the ire of the philly fanbase, they said go ahead chip, release this guy, because we don't have the cap blah blah whatever BS they told him behind closed doors. Chip goes ahead and is given front office freedom. He releases Lesean McCoy. Everyone hates Chip and thinks hes an Ahole. Ownership washes hands of the situation, cuts ties with chip, and say it was allllll chips fault. Not ours! Very well played philly, very well played...
