Story of the year has lots of possibilities.

Rousey reached a new height for mainstream MMA popularity and then lost, Conor's hype train fulfilled, on going Reebok cluster ****, new drug testing measures, Kimbo vs. Shamrock  , probably missed something.

edit: Jones ran into a pregnant lady

Yeah, I'm working on them now. Should have them up in the next couple days.

- GSP supposedly was 3lbs over weight and Diaz lobbied immediately for a rematch (claims he might have been as much as 7lbs over)
- He was unable to see the scale
- they peed directly into a film container, which was sealed with scotch tape which then had their names written on them

So they weren't tested, but they peed in a cup?

Diaz is such a dolt. He believes his own deceptions.

His beef is that it's possible for the samples to be tampered with. Current testing measures use mechanically sealed containers, which makes it obvious when they've been tampered.

His "proof" that they didn't test is that he would have failed because he was using marijuana.

He found a lot of things sketchy about that fight, and to be fair, that was an anticipated big money fight in GSP's hometown, which is probably the most corrupt and bribe-able place in the country. The mayor was turfed and tossed in jail three months later.

I didn't listen to the interview.

There, now that that is out of the way, here is my take. The problem with Diaz is that he and his camp cry wolf way too much. Here are the claims that I can recall from that fight:
1) GSP was using steroids
2) The fix was in for the drug testing
3) GSP missed weight
4) There was "something fishy" about GSP's hand wraps.

Seriously, if he just came out now and talked about how the drug testing was sketchy and he was using and nobody say anything, this might actually be big news. Especially with the revelation recently about the ufc allowing Vitor to use and still fight. But no, you can't claim a guy is cheating in every possible way and then expect us to believe all of them. Now the hand wrap thing would absolutely blow me away if true, otherwise any of those claims individually wouldn't surprise me. But again, not all of them, just too ridiculous.

I agree... He's naturally paranoid and prone to making accusations. However if he can corroborate the film cannister thing, ish will hit the fan. It sounds ridiculous.

Though this was a good article about the evolution of MMA striking. Brandon Gibson explains why MMA striking's future is now

Holm still seems upset that the ufc is forcing her to wait until July for Ronda.

I didn't even know they announced that rematch yet. That's BS on multiple levels, but it's not surprising.

"Eight months between fights is a long time," Holm said at a media event before UFC 194 in Las Vegas. "Maybe not for some, but in boxing I used to fight four times a year for title fights. I was very active. This year is three fights in a year. I still feel like it's active. To go eight months without one, we're not even averaging two a year at that rate. So it's kind of like, man that's a really long time from now."

There's no way they're going to risk the fight at UFC 200. Holm will just have to sit on all of that momentum while Dana hopes Ronda figures out a way to beat her.

I've been debating all week if I should listen to this Nick Diaz pod with Chael. I'm not a big fan of Chael's podcast with all the ads, etc. Decided to give it a go though and its amazing. Chael asked one question about his brother's fight with MJ and Nick has been ranting for 10 minutes (so far). From everything to his brother's contract, to him traveling the world, to him sparring with Andre Ward, to taking legkicks in a boxing stance, to throwing punches correctly.

Now they are discussing the fact that Nate is on a 20/20 contract. That really is just sickening for a tuf winner who has been in the ufc forever who is also a draw and has headlined events and fought in a title fight. Ridiculous.

The TUF contract is a horrible deal for fighters with any appeal and it sets a lower point for when you renegotiate. Remember Big Country being upset with it, he made 15k/15k for co-maining with Mir and fighting JDS which for a heavyweight with a bit of a name is plain crazy.

The internet says Diaz took a healthy signing bonus in exchange for a lower purse.

As soon as we have this discussion, rumors start popping up of Holly/Meisha. Wowww if true.

I'd love to be wrong in this case. Forcing a healthy, 34-year-old champ to wait 8 months for a rematch against the fighter she just dominated is a joke. Especially with her star shining so bright. There has never been a female champ as loved as Holm is right now. (maybe Gina)

Could be Dana wised up that he didn't want to so disgruntle a champ.

Probably Rousey just said she wanted more time off. (If this happens).

Nate seems like the kind of dude who forgets about the signing bonus the minute that money is gone.

Seriously, why can't the UFC tell people little things like they've been cut?

Kevin Souza: UFC wasn’t interested in renewing my contract

Souza, who had a 10-fight winning streak snapped by Chas Skelly in November, was listed among eight fighters recently cut from the promotion. Souza, who confirmed his cut to MMAFighting.com on Tuesday, revealed on Wednesday that his four-fight contract expired in November, and the promotion showed no interest in signing a new deal.

"Every fighter receives an e-mail from USADA to notify their whereabouts, if you’re making a trip or things like that," Souza told MMAFighting.com, "and I got an e-mail saying I didn’t need to notify them anymore because I wasn’t listed as a UFC fighter. That’s how I found out."
