So who wants to explain to me the Bo Ryan 'affair' rumor. I heard it had a lot to do with his decision stepping down.

Bo used to charter flights to Vegas to engage in carnal relations with Suzy Hamilton.

Jordan Johnson is insane. 5'9" and had 19/9/10. Second in the NCAA in assists. I encourage everyone to see a UWM game this year. It's the best ticket in town.

I'll still take Marquette and watching Ellenson grow. They could be top 25 within two weeks.

Just goes to show how little excitement i have for this team. Opening game of the Big Ten season and vs a good team, yet i forgot the game was even being played tonight.

I meant more by an extremely cheap ticket in a fantastic basketball venue watching an entertaining team. Center court tickets a few rows up are $20.

I think what Gard has gone with (basically Bennett-ball) has been good for the talent they have this year. The only guy that it doesn't seem to fit is Koenig. The swing is good for their majority of players that cannot create their own shot or shoot the ball well.

for years the masses continued to proclaim that this (insert any season) will be a rebuilding year.

the prophecy finally came to light.

And I still think they'd be (barely) a tournament team with Van Vliet or Pritzl. Van Vliet supposedly was still a bit raw in the scrimmages, but either of those guys would be big time 3 point shooters on a team that does not really have any. Van Vliet, though skinny, would have actually had the height to hang with Hammons last night.

Wojo is at Marquette to get experience until Coach K retires.

Yea like I said unless one of the assistants does something. So far so good for Wojo but how will he do without Ellenson next year. If he builds a winner the next 3-5 years then he has to be the front runner, if not, it's wide open as I don't think any of the other K proteges have done much. Hurley has a shot too but will probably need to get to a bigger program first. Also, UNC job will be open soon too so two of the top 5 jobs right in his backyard, he has to have an eye on those. Duke just seems a better fit due to his familiarity with a high academic university.

Not me. We may not reach the 20010-2013 football run or the 2012-2015 basketball run for awhile, but I think both programs are fine (basketball is a bit TBA). The basketball and football teams both have coaching transitions and crappy injury situations.

The football team had a good schedule but losing Clement (in a year where they had no RB depth) and having a weak O-line due to injuries/transition was painful. Chryst will get them back to a good pro-style offense and hopefully Aranda and his successor can keep a great defense going. Next year's team should be better with a tough schedule so maybe hopes for 8-4. Hell, what is so bad about 9-3? I know it was against a weak schedule but it's still a solid season, which seems to be Wisconsin's MO. A solid year 90% of years with a few peak moments of breakthroughs and minimal valleys.

Basketball, same thing. They lost half of their team and have a lame duck Bo Ryan (maybe controversy as well). Assuming Hayes doesn't go pro, this entire team will be back. Koenig/Hayes (and I guess Showalter/Vitto) as seniors and 5 or 6 solid players that were supposed to be only getting a few minutes/game to get their feet wet will now be sophomores. Throw in Van Vliet and Pritzl and that's a team that probably is back in our "top 4 every year" model. Following that you'll have a few years of this entire, massive 5-6 man crew as juniors/RS soph. The only uncertainty is Gard. From what I've seen he's going to run the Bennett model and I think he's going to stay.

I think in both cases, the recent dominant successes of Russell Wilson and everything coming together for 2013-2015 basketball have raised our expectations a little too much. Neither of these seasons are terrible for programs of UW's ilk. We can't expect Final Fours and Rose Bowls twice every 5 years. That said, I like what I've seen from Chryst and his first recruiting class. I think Gard stays and I think we'll be fine there. Maybe not Bo Ryan-type consistent, but consistent.

Are you saying this because the football team might only win 10 games?

Stone put up 39/12 tonight for Maryland
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It certainly hurt that Wisconsin lost both Ellenson and Stone. But they do have a good crop of young players. Most are just too raw right now.
I don't see them competing for an NCAA title next year, but they should certainly be good enough to get into the tourney. Especially if Hayes stays.
But all the freshmen getting playing time now should be considerably improved next season. Happ has already played good ball many games, but Iverson, Thomas, Hill, and Ilkainen should be much improved next year.

It's possible they'd be in the tourney this year if Van Vliet and Pritzl were playing.

Having Jarrod Uthoff would be a big help for this team.

Iowa beat #14 Purdue today on the road. Iowa beat #1 Michigan State at home on Tuesday. The Big 10 is really good this season.

10 wins and a bowl win against USC is bad?

For basketball, we just had a great two year run and are in a complete rebuild... Is this news to anyone that follows UW sports?

For next year, the teams look fantastic. The football team does have a crazy tough schedule, but if they have an average QB, they'll be a heck of team... Even if Hayes goes pro, but everyone else returns, the basketball team will be challenging for the Big Ten Title.

Yep... If Hill was playing all year, UW probably has a couple more wins.
