I would not be dissapointed if we fall to #2
I would be if we fall to #3 or further.
I also would not be dissapointed to wait another year for the Lakers' pick too. We will have enough rookies already on our team.

If you get Ingram and Dunn you are in a really sweet spot moving forward, a couple of solid wings with the other two 1sts, and it will look pretty neat.

That would be (to me) more ideal than getting just Simmons.
And with that Miami/OKC pick, I would be interested in Wayne Selden. Seems like the perfect role player on this team.
Dunn/Ish/Marshall (Ish resigned at 6 million for 2 years)
Stauskas/Selden/Ingram
Ingram/Covington/Holmes
Saric/Okafor/Holmes
Noel/Embiid/Okafor
That's a very nice team.
But maybe too much young players that need playing time to develop.
My gut feeling says Okafor is going to be traded than.
Or Noel, because he's the first to get paid and his value is higher than Okafor's I can assume.

Seldon is an interesting guy.
Noel's HS teammate and Embiid college one.

Re: 2016 NBA Draft/College Basketball Thread
I may be in the minority here, but I am really not on the Kris Dunn bandwagon. I know he can pile up assists and be a terror with steals, but the guy really can't shoot and isn't exactly a youngster for a college kid to project a real improvement in his shooting. We had a similar guy in MCW and traded him for the Lakers' pick, why go down that road again with another guy who does not fit the modern spacing/shooting game.
Give me Ingram or Simmons or hope some other guy really rises up to three, let the Lakers' pick roll over or move it in a deal, and somehow get into a spot to grab Demetrius Jackson to play the point.
Then again, Durant leaves and we flood OKC with a big package of assets and suddenly Russell Westbrook is our PG, who knows?

If the 76ers are looking to build a special dominant team . They will need to abandon the fast tempo small ball scheme and focus on building around Okafor and Embiid . Two bigs that can stretch the floor and dominate the paint . This draft is crucial that we come out with two really good players in the top half of the draft . I would do what it takes by packaging the late firsts and assets to move up in the draft if nessecary. One of simmons or ingram with our pick and and murray or brown with the LA pick is a ideal scenerio.
Noel must be packaged for a proven young guard or wing.

We had a similar guy in MCW

first you need to see Dunn play, because he is a capable shooter, he is not similar to MCW at all, especially as playmaker.
The other stuff is just dumb, but highlights the fact that you are wrong overall.

Re: 2016 NBA Draft/College Basketball Thread
If we somehow ended up with the 1st and 4th picks, I would seriously consider consolidating the 4th pick with the OKC pick and a 2017 sixers first (with the right to swap with the Kings included in that). Getting both Ben Simmons AND Brandan Ingram in the same draft would be insane.

Buddy Hield should be a future Sixer

He had 46 pts tonight vs Kansas. Avg 25 pts this season.
Buddy Hield is going to start moving up the draft board. If you watch him and Wayne Selden Jr there is no doubt who the better player is and the better pro prospect is.

Late Bloomer?
NC- Brice Johnson
39 Points 23 Rebounds in Win vs Fla St.
Only 2 college players in recent memory have had 30+ Pts and 20+ rebounds in same game . Kevin Durant and Blake Griffin and now Brice Johnson.

Dunn reminds me of Wall, plays nothing like MCW. He would make everyone better.

Magic was an awful shooter coming out of MSU. Come on. Mid range or from deep. Never was a good shooter from 3pt range, but that wasn't as huge a part of the NBA back in the early 80's like it is now.
Announcers make mention of that perception of Jordan here. Link is time stamped.
http://youtu.be/GnAFWxtT5W8?t=5m3s
And because the announcers say something it's true? I watched him play. The Clips announcers last night were saying Nik is a great shooter or one of them did. Does that mean it's true?
And you said "elite". That means he was cream of the crop in mid-range game right out of college. Not true. He became that. He was good right out of college, but there were many guys with better mid-range games in the NBA in 1984-85.
MJ was not an elite mid-range shooter as a frosh or sophomore at NC. That's what we're comparing to Simmons, no? And the fact we are comparing anything about Simmons to the greatest is saying something.
The thing about MJ was he improved each and every year. Worked hard. You need great talent and great work ethic to get to be MJ. His shot improved over time. Just like Magic and Kidd.
Well MJ did shoot 45% from the shortened college 3 his sophomore year on 2 attempts/game. That's a long 2 in the NBA. He also had that nice NCAA game winner his junior year. As a rookie he did rely heavily on penetration and getting to the rim. I think he had a bit of a negative stigma as a shooter since it wasn't a large part of his game, even if it was effective when used. I'd feel the same way about Simmons.. if he at least attempted/made a jump shot. Has he made one yet? I don't even know, and that's why I'm reluctant to compare him to guys who were able to become great shooters.
On another note, Magic was a good 3 pt. shooter when he tried to be. He went from 20% on .8 attempts/game to 30% and then 38% on 3.5 attempts/game at the age of 30 (normal NBA 3 pt. line in case you're wondering). Makes you wonder how good of a 3 pt. shooter he could have been had it been a focus for him throughout his career.

If we were to land the number 1 pick and draft Simmons what kind of pg do we look for at that point? Do we than go with more of a shooting type of pg over the more traditional style pg?

Id say you would want someone who can shoot the ball. Your gonna want Simmons to have the ball in his hands a lot.

Hield is nowhere near the athlete Selden is. Not to sure how effective Hield will be in the NBA. Hield is without a doubt the better player now and college player. I actually like Selden long term in the NBA

Re: 2016 NBA Draft/College Basketball Thread
Ben Simmons is so much better than the rest of his draft class and is such an obvious superstar, and could literally change our franchise's hopes , that it actually makes me cry
because it's probably not going to happen. a 75% chance it won't happen. and we'll end up with the 3rd pick and take some ok player in a weak draft. and the search for a superstar will go on....
