Jarret Jack was one of the worst, if not the worst starting play in the NBA (vs Calderon and Mudiay). Larkin has played pretty good in his minutes, but Larkin is simply not sustainable in larger role. His role is to play like a bee, just flying around, trying to string. You can't run an offense for 40 minutes that way.

I will be livid if we lose this game but what do you want to do? Have the team fine Stevens? Have Stevens bench all the starters for the next game?

Ownership to push Ainge to get on Stevens case about playing the fodder less and start giving significantly more playing time to the young guys. The deadline is coming up, its time to see what we have and who we should part with.

It's not like it's a big secret that the Celtics have 0% chance of winning the title this year. Why are we gunning for the 8th seed again with players that are already fully developed and mediocre? Are we really going to try the "the playoff experience will help build winning culture" crap again?

One of the answers to this is usually that the Celtics are "showcasing" vets to up their market value. I have no idea if that's what is actually happening but I would be curious what Ainge/Zarren would say behind closed doors about whether that actually works.

Philly is a mortal lock for the worst record. I actually expect Brooklyn to end up with the 5th worst record, behind Philly, Phoenix, Lakers, and Nuggets. Possibly sixth if the Wolves falter, which is a distinct possibility. Sucks for us, but that's what I expect.

I agree with this. PHO will finish with the 2nd worst record, IMO. LA has a lot more home games to play, so they will get some wins.Nuggets scare me, Minny does not look too good either. I think 5th pick is realistic...

PHI
PHO
LAL
DEN
NJ

I don't think MIN and DEN will be that bad at the end of the season. I'm more scared about Portland.

But i don't even care that much anymore. It's just painful to talk about this pick when the Nets are 2-1 against us.

Yea thats an angler for sure. But I just don't buy it too much. Most of us on this forum know who Turner is, who Lee is, who Sullinger is, who Bradley is, etc....and we watch and follow along as a hobby. I find it very hard to believe that a GM and NBA scouts outside of Billy King don't know who these guys already are as well as everyone else around the league. The true question marks are the Mickey's of the league that haven't gotten to be showcased basically at all

I was hoping that all the bad teams in the west would mean a softer schedule for the teams competing with the Nets for a top pick, but it really doesn't. If we assume the bottom 8 teams are PHI, BKN, LAL, PHO, NOP, DEN, MIN, and SAC (quibble with this list, but it wouldn't change the point much adding Portland) below are they number of games these teams play against each other:

PHI: 9
BKN: 11
LAL: 12
PHO: 11
NOP: 17
DEN: 11
MIN: 13
SAC: 16

Based on this, I think its pretty safe to say SAC and NOP will finish with better records than BKN. I also think MIN is talented enough to stay ahead of them. But other than that, all the crappy teams play each other a similar number of times. I think the top slots in the lottery will be:

1. PHI (definitely)
2. LAL (almost definitely)

3-5. BKN, PHO, DEN in some order

This means the odds of a top 3 pick will either be:

3. 46.9%
4. 37.8%
5. 29.1%

And the odds of the top pick would be:

3. 15.6%
4. 11.9%
5. 8.8%

Phoenix could be legit competition, but I think Denver is a decent bet to finish better than BK. They play up tempo, goofy basketball with good homecourt advantage and they can shoot the ball.

Wow, didn't even realize they got blown out by the Lakers. 22 points in a half against the league's worst defense? That's some next level suckage. My money's on Hornacek getting the boot soon, Morris finally getting his walking papers and a bit of a rebound before too long.

Here's hoping the Lakers are on to something. 3 game winning streak starting with clowning us at home. Only 2 wins behind the Nets. No real hope of catching Philly but the #2 slot would be sweet.

Andy Vasquez: Billy King said Nets won’t make an immediate move to replace Jack. Said he wants to give Larkin & Sloan opportunity.

Andy Vasquez: King said there’s not a PG out there the Nets could get right now that would “move the needle.”

Mike Mazzeo: The #Nets are sticking what they have. All players said they’d miss Jack’s leadership and vocal presence and have to help fill the void.

In other words, "we are tapped out in the money dep't folks."

Mentioned this early on, it is going to be awkward bringing in even bit parts.

Kobe nursing a sore shoulder, if he starts to break down then the Lakers could start to pile up the wins

Yep. This year has been all about money for them since the D-Will buyout. Avoiding the LT this year and not adding more money to next year's payroll.

Only deal I can see happening is Karasev for another expiring body. Maybe to Philly for Kendall Marshall now that he's healthy again.

Minnesota lost to Philly. lmao. I guess it's time to officially give up on the hope of that turning into a first round pick. I was trying to hold out hope that they could maybe sneak into that bad 8th seed in western conference with a good run... but nope. It's over.

You would think that they might pick up Phil Pressey on the cheep?

That'd be ideal for our pick. Pressey doesnt even belong in the league

He dominance with his unselfishness is crazy. So underrated.

Minny & Boston are fans are lucky to witness it.

I can see Brooklyn getting Tony Wroten. Dude was solid for Philly before his injury, he's worth a shot. They will lose a lot of games with Larkin and Sloan being their main guys. Might aswell just start Joe at the PG for the rest of the year.
WHAT THEY GON’ SAY NOW? ‎ THANK YOU TRUTH!
