And that'll do it. Russ has been terrible, mostly in the second half.
Said in a thread about which point guards would make OKC better if they replaced Westbrook:

Everybody forgot Russ had eleven assists in the first quarter. This loss was on everybody not named Serge and maybe Morrow, they all played poorly.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

The bench was horrible giving up the lead in the 1st, but there is no reaso nfor Russ having this type of game. His playmaking was semi-fine, but beyond that he was trash.
Horrible defense, 6 for 21 FG (7 3s), and 7 turnovers. Not many games Morrow goes for 20, Ibaka for 25, and Adams for 15 with 3 of them above 58% FG(2 above 72% FG). Payne dropped 11 in the 4th after a slow start, that somewhat makes up for the bench. Kanter was trash tonight as well.
26% FG on 23 shots? That is basically asking to lose the game. Westbrook didn't fight through screens multiple times in the 1st half allowing Rondo to take advantage of Morrow. Most of these shots were unacceptable, not even up for debates just awful shots.

Not saying he played well, but Waiters/Kanter are the 2 main scoring options on this "deep" bench, and they were 2-12 with worse defense and Cousins going off entirely on Kanter. Westbrook wasn't good at all, but the bench was way worse.

Not anymore.

I'm not letting a bad game without KD dampen my excitement about Cam. This was his first bad game and he was still aggressive and looking to make a difference. He has confidence like Dion but can actually play.

He was a lone bright spot on the bench man. AMo and Serge were fine, the bench terrifies me. That defense.

So completely done with Dion. Kyle looked passable. Dion has gone back to his old ways and I can't watch it any more.
On the plus side, Cam proved he's got some guts and clutch mentality. Kid's going to be a stone killer at the end of games if Billy D gives him run next to Russ and KD.

I don't normally like to complain about reffing, either, but that was pretty awful to watch. Our win percentage in Danny Crawford games has to be something like 10%, and it means nothing to call touch fouls on one end if he can bully guys under the rim and score on the other.
That being said, Boogie looked locked in all game, which seems to be a matter of what night you catch him on.

How did our bench go from what I thought would be a strength this year to just pure garbage? It's pitiful to watch.

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder Regular Season 2015-2016 Part 2
I think we should have rested Westbrook, Ibaka, Roberson, and Adams and given some playing time to McGary, Payne, Waiters, Singler, Kanter, etc. to try and get them going offensively and let them work on their defensive game as well.
If not rest them, then why the hell is McGary even playing? I mean, Durant is out. Not Ibaka. Not Adams. Durant. We should have seen Morrow, Singler, Kanter and/or Roberson get more minutes in Durant's absence. I just don't understand what Donovan was doing here. I was really, really confused.
Minute distribution versus Kings:
Westbrook (41) // Payne (19)
Roberson (23) // Waiters (19)
Morrow (34) // Singler (14)
Ibaka (40) // Collison (5) // McGary (2)
Adams (27) // Kanter (16)
Kanter only gets 16 minutes??
Collison, only 5?
Waiters gets 19 compared to Roberson's 23?
The key to winning on an off-night isn't running Westbrook 40 minutes into the ground on a poor shooting night. It's playing Kanter more minutes to account for the lack of Durant's presence on the offensive side. It's playing your defensive stoppers such as Collison and Roberson. It's not experimenting by throwing McGary in there for 2 minutes.
At this point, I'd rather play Novak more minutes than Waiters. At least Novak can hit the open 3 and spaces the floor rather well.
I mean, seriously, Kanter only gets SIX-TEEN minutes? S-I-X-T-E-E-N???

I don't think Donovan himself knows either. You nailed it on the head.

I'm almost sure that was the plan going in, then Kanter came in and was -15 in something like six minutes. It's hard to blame minutes distribution when guys play like ****.

Kanter is getting paid like a starter so he should be getting minutes ESPECIALLY with Durant out. To me, there is no excuse.

Get realistic. Kanter had a drtg of 145.6 and net rating of -52.4 and you wanted more court time. He was awful.

Re: Oklahoma City Thunder Regular Season 2015-2016 Part 2
Of course we have terrible bench players, but i feel KD & WB (and ibaka) stopped carrying about regular season so much, and thats really a big concern to me. I can understand why, they suffered so many injuries over the years that they think the only important thing is to get healthy comes playoff time, which is of course the most important. But they forgot how important it is to have home court advantage ,and mostly how important it is to build a solid group, a solid team defense and showing the other guys the extra energy needed to be an elite team. KD defended pretty well against lebron some weeks ago ( and against kobe in some stretches), so we know he can do it, but he has shown no effort on a daily basis ( sure he can be struggling with his condition, but then it would be better to play him less minutes or even to sit him some games).
Yeah, we have an unreal amount of one way players ( or no way players indeed), but our bench in 2012-2013 was also pretty bad. This season every guard or wing player can put 30+ points when guarded by westbrook or durant. thats a big concern to me.
There's no reason that a KD/WB/Ibaka/Adams/roberson ( or any other wing player) can't be good on defense. I feel its only about effort and motivation. We have a lot of problems, we should try to trade for a wing player ( please presti do it!), cut waiters minutes and stuff, but at the end, i feel the problems ( and the solution!) starts with our big 3 ( yeah still have faith in ibaka to say big 3)
