100% agree
As much as I want one of those top 3 (more so the top 2), I'd be happy with any of the 6.
Point is, I'm not hurling myself off of a bridge if we dont land in the top 3. Now...number 7....

Mine in order would be

Poeleti
Rabb
Dunn
Brown
Don't dislike Brown at all. Just not on this team. My list isn't necessarily best available but my preferences for team fit...which Danny would never draft to. Lol. I know I contradict myself by placing Dunn over Brown. Only reason I do is because I feel Dunn is worth blowing up our backcourt while Brown I question.

Simmons-Ingram-Dunn is my Top 3. That's my next generation LeBron-Durant-Wade right there.
Everyone else is underneath. Bender is my wild card. I don't know enough about him to pretend like I know for sure if he'll be any good. Poeltl just screams bad pick inside of the Top 5. I have seen this story unfold before. I'd only be interested in him later in the lottery. Jaylen Brown reminds me of a Wiggins/DeRozen type. That's his ceiling.. I think whoever drafts him needs to be patient. Might take him a year or two to start figuring stuff out. Rabb I'm intrigued by. I think he's going to be a good pro.

I think Brown will be very similar to Nicolas Batum - complete and useful player without star ceiling.

Yeah. From someone who has seen Dunn play at least a dozen times at the dunk, he's the real deal. If not for our backcourt, I'd love him on here. Hence my comment, me taking him at 6 is no indication of BPA. More about fit on the team.
Agree to disagree on Poeleti. I think he's the safest pick outside of the top 3 and Dunn.

I just want to acquire Boogie already and get it over with. I talked myself into including the BK pick. I think it's worth it. I'd rather keep Smart here if we're bringing in Boogie. Smart is a leader. I think he'll be good for Cousins. My final offer is:
Lee-Sully-Young-Rozier-16BK-16Own-16Mavs-16Philly 2nd for Boogie & Belinelli
We enter into free agency with the following core as the selling point
Thomas-Bradley-Smart-Belinelli-Hunter-Crowder-Olynyk-Mickey-Boogie
Team optons: Amir/Jonas
UFA-Turner
The obvious free agent target is Durant. Best case scenario is we land him....

I love Cousins and always viewed him as a number 2 on a possible contending team. Much like a Pau Gasol type of player. I don't think you move this years BK pick unless you already have a team in place for Cousins. KD is a pipe dream that's not very realistic, so you can't bank on that. Too much risk. Plus, the possibility at landing a top 2 pick is too enticing.
Now, if you wait til after the lottery drawing, and we do not end up in the top 3, then I'm all for sending that #4, 5 or 6 pick to Sac. Because it's less of a risk.
Basically, that BK pick should not be moved until draft night. If it falls out of the top 2-3, then Danny can make some moves.

The reception of the statement obviously depends of how one views Batum, but it shouldn't be depressing. IMO, Batum is a third best player on a contending team with 2 top stars. Just not a star himself. The odds of acquiring a star with one particular draft pick are relatively low.

the only problem with waiting is the following. the Lakers. What is stopping the Lakers from offering a package centered around #2 for Boogie? Then all of a sudden they become a serious threat to land Durant.
Another issue is this. Stevens is in year 3. Things are moving along nicely. But let's not fool ourselves. Stevens wants to compete for Championships. We can't sit around and keep drafting 19 year olds.

"3rd best player on a contending team with 2 stars".... That was Trevor Ariza last year. You're making me more depressed.

You make a lot of sense which is why I always like hearing you opinions. But I don't think Danny moves a potential number 1-2 pick in fear of what the Lakers will do for a player who doesn't make us a contender right away and isn't going to attract free agents. I don't think players are standing in line to play with Cousins. If you give Danny the option of Simmons or Ingram over Cousins, I think that's a tough decision.
And Stevens had to know what he was getting himself into. If he didn't, then shame on him. You'd think hesigned a 6 year deal for that very reason. If he were smarter, he probably should have waited for that Indy job to shake free. But maybe he wanted a change of scenery.

I think Wyc's comments last month speak volumes as to what Danny and the brass want to do. History will show you that Boston hasn't fared well with lottery luck. I'm sure that Danny/Brad/Wyc would LOVE to draft Simmons or Ingram. But the likelihood of that panning out is pretty low. Personally, I'm not advocating for Danny to simply trade the pick at the first decent deal he can find. I think we should keep that pick and hope for the best. BUT.....If we can get Boogie with the BK pick, and keep Smart and the rest of our core out of the deal....you do it. you have to. He's a top 10 player today with the potential to be a Top 5 player in a better environment.
He's an Olympic guy...He has pull. This all bodes well for the Celtics.

Or. We trade it for Boogie, his head spontaneously combusts, the lottery balls bounce Sac's way in June, they land Simmons and the result is every member of this board going postal.
