Cameron Payne

Just watched two mins of him play and is safe to say he's the most talented player on the team... For real though what's up with presti finding gems!

Let KD walk, the campayne has begun.

Was thinking of starting a thread for Cam discussion. I find it amazing that a non OKC fan started it and noticed. Kid is great!

And Presti's drafting is one thing I never question.

Payne has been great. This is the spark off the bench we needed. I thought it might come from McGary but, I am really happy with his success. Donovan made a great comment that he will have ups and downs. But, he is looking good.

Cam was so fluid last night. I knew he had range and that floater game, but he was truly impressive. It's about defense for him.

Also, I was dying at this:

Love the fact he has the confidence to pull up from range too. Had no hesitation letting fly from 20+ feet when the screener gave him a look.

That's one of the biggest things that people liked about him in the draft. His release is stupidly quick, so no one can go under screens or give him space. The pullup 3s were a big part of his arsenal in college, and he's a good enough shooter that teams have to respect him as soon as he starts getting close to the 3pt line.

To have a gm who drafts like presti... He looks great, quick floater, range, not sure how well he creates but... Yeah. Something to be said for players with borderline irrational confidence

Payne w/ 5 PF last night with a -17 +/-. Yikes.

One good thing no turnovers...

He intentional fouled Rondo 3 or 4 times to put him on the line.

And the =/- is largely a reflection of him being in when the bench collapsed in the first quarter. He was fine after that.

After the rough 0-4 start, he came back in the 4th and had a 5of8 11 point 4th quarter.

I didn't catch the game. But, that is great to know. I am really impressed with the kid. Looks like Presti did it again.

Watching him, as a rookie, going at the rim—going at Cousins—and grabbing O boards and scoring...man, I really love this kid. Ice water in his veins. I know he'll hit his rookie wall at some point, but wouldn't be surprised if he starts to get some more crunch time minutes, because he's not afraid of the big shot (like Dion) and he can make the big shot (unlike Dion 90% of the time).

He is already the best player on our bench, and may even be better than Roberson overall. His defense has picked up some, he makes rookie mistakes but the energy is off the charts and he denies superbly off the ball.

Our guy Cameron Payne is going through a pretty significant cold stretch shooting the ball though. Shooting 12.5% from 3 his last 5 games (2 of 16). At the risk of jinxing him, I'm sure its an anomaly. His form is too good to continue to shoot it that poorly forever.

Otherwise he's doing a lot stuff really well. The guy has a natural feel for the game.

The fact that he is shooting poorly and still making positive contributions offensively is what I really love.
