...or Calipari could sign with Ranadive after they fire Karl in Sacramento, a city Cousins just professed he wants to help turn around
isn't their roster nearly 90% former Wildcats? nothing short of trading for Derrick Rose and him returning to MVP form in the next 3 months would even give the Nets a marginally better chance of swiping Demarcus from Sacramento
You say that the Nets have no continuity with their coaching staff but then you bring up the Kings as a team Calipari would be more interested in?
You think Calipari wants to work for an owner who dictates draft choices, recommends 4 on 5 defensive schemes because they worked in his daughter's school games, and who still has front office turmoil after owning the team for multiple years now?
The team that fired Mike Malone, who was doing an excellent job as head coach and even more importantly was approved by DMC, let Ty Corbin run the show for a while and then at mid-season hire George Karl, who at best has a rocky relationship with DMC?
This is the same team free agents avoided and even in some cases took less money to play elsewhere (even though they had players like DMC and Rudy Gay) because the front office/ownership dynamic was bad.
Proky is a GM's dream. An owner who allows you to spend and doesn't micro-manage your decisions. Ranadive's spending prowress hasn't been tested yet but his desire to intervene and turn his people into yes-men is a huge negative.
I remember when LBJ professed that he would do everything in his power to bring a championship to Cleveland before he signed with the Heat. I'm sure the intentions of both LBJ and DMC are genuine however others talked to LBJ and reminded him of how short a window he has to win and win big. DMC is already known as a career loser and many people believe that a change of scenery would be best for both parties.
I don't know how you can say the Nets have no chance but use the Kings as an example of a team Calipari would want to go to. I can't read his mind but it wouldn't make sense for a guy who has control of Kentucky to leave the NCAA and go to a place where he'd be following the orders of an owner who wants people to obey his wishes even though he doesn't know anything about NBA basketball.
Yeah, the Sacramento Kings are no different from the Nets except they have 3 former Wildcats already on their roster, including Demarcus Cousins...
So you're saying that Calipari wouldn't care a lick about being a GM. He only wants to spread Kentucky as everywhere as if that's the only school he's ever coached and has a connection to.
Ok...do you have any other logical response as to why Calipari would choose the Kings over everyone else outside of the fact that they have 3 Kentucky alumni?
