Marcus Morris Appreciation Thread

This guy is a Piston. Reminds me of Rasheed. He's been great. Can see this going forward beyond this year -

Agreed. Besides Morris's ability to iso his defender to death, which I LOVE, his defense is so surprisingly good I sometimes sit and wonder with all the crap I heard about him, and everything else nothing, not even a PEEP was made about his defense. This guy can flat-out stop people.

I also love his aggression. I love the hard ass foul he planted on Harris tonight against Orlando. It was on purpose and I LOVED IT.

I love Morris. When his midrange shot is falling he is awesome. When it isn't, he is still rebounding, defending, hustling, and playing team ball. Get his brother here. I would love to double down on what Marcus is bringing.

I hope this doesn't turn into another Kieff thread cause Marcus deserves his shine

he's also accountable. Reportedly a quite guy, Mook apparently made it known in the lockeroom that PG going off in indy was on him. When you watch the film, maybe 1 of the 7 was his fault. Just absolute professional

Yea having a guy who can get his own when everything breaks down, stretch the floor, and defend wings is very valuable. I don't mind his low percentage shooting days either because he gets solid looks that the rest of our team simply can't get from the iso. I'm really high on Marcus and love when he's on the floor... Just hope he stays focused and motivated. I feel like playing with a guy like Brandon will help him with that

I was honestly not thrilled when we landed him in the that trade. But now, I feel the complete opposite. It's like he epitomizes Detroit basketball. He's been great. Not a superstar, but what a tough player. Works his tail off and doesn't take crap.

I'm another one who was not super excited to have him here initially. The guy has blown away all expectations, even though most were low. He brings such a great element of toughness and whenever his shot isn't falling he refuses to quit. It's awesome to see. His defense is also great. I almost think that Stan is blown away at how good he actually is. He's said in press conferences that he is shocked at times.

Total win all around on that trade.

Reggie, Ersan, Marcus...three starters without giving up a first or player of note.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I was hesitant about him, but after seeing him play during a preseason game I attended, I had a feeling he'd be good. I didn't think he'd be this good.

I really wanted us to get Tobias Harris last off season but what a steal for Morris, plus I love his Sheed like attitude

Harris 4 years 16 mil per 14 pts 7 reb 2 ast 17 per

Morris 4 years 5 mil per 14 pts 5 reb 2 ast 12 per

That and the defense Morris plays is lightyears ahead of what Harris does.

I really wanted Harris last offseason as well and Morris has completley made me forget about that. Marcus Morris is so similar to Rasheed on the block it really weird's me out. You can see they hang out all the time as Morris is dripping with Rasheeds manerisms and play style.

I liked his attitude even before I saw him play. I didn't think he was going to be this good though. I was disappointed when Stanley didn't get the starting position but when I saw Morris play during preseason, I thought no wonder! Morris is really strong and at times I feel like he can defend Lebron. His defense surprised me more than anything, he plays hard! To think we got him for a second round pick at that contract for 4 years? That's crazy. He's here to stay until his contract runs out. I don't see him leaving this team at all. Although I do want his brother, I don't think he's good enough to start at PF and we'd have too many paid players off the bench. I don't think they'll play with each other this contract because of this. But of course, if the Suns were to give us Markieff for nothing? You can't say no to that lol

He's around what I expect. A better shooter tho, doesn't pass/playmake like I thought he could tho. Hopefully he starts to try/do that when his shots isn't falling

I was actually really excited about him when we acquired him, but then after listening to you lot, I began to temper my expectations. That being said, he has surpassed my highest hopes for him so far. His stats compared to Tobias Harris (who I also really wanted last year) really blow me away.

He's been okay.

Better than I thought he'd be. Still rather inefficient. He's definitely doing better than his brother though.

Yeah, that's fair. I'd be willing to go an at least okay. He does need to be more efficient. The whole team does really. Hope for improving team chemistry. "Better than I thought he'd be," is right too. I always figured he was a good value addition to the rotation, but he's a better fit, and better teammate/competitor than I anticipated. Marcus is a beast. What other small forwards out there have his skill set on the cheap contract he has? I love his post game and ability to take it to the basket on iso plays. His mid range and 3 point shot is pretty consistent also.
