Kentucky has made a comeback behind Jamal Murray, I'd like to see Simmons be more assertive right now. Attempted only 2 shots and has only 2 FTs.

Poythress on the bench with foul trouble and Lee fouled out. With Kentucky's interior defense taking a big hit, Simmons should look to drive inside for the remainder of the game.

Simmons needs to be aggressive like he was against Vandy

I think quarterman has potential.

Simmons had got to drive at Kentucky every time now and just live at the line.

If the rest of his team mates didn't have it going then I'd be concerned with Simmons not being more aggressive but this is the best LSU has looked as a collective whole all season long.

Simmons wasn't posting up Briscoe to take advantage of a favorable mismatch against a PG. I guess he's been double teamed in the paint but still needs to assert himself as an interior presence. He's not gunna get to the charity stripe at will at the next level

He's been posting up his mismatch especially in the second half. LSU's guards have done a piss poor job of getting him the ball. I was hoping we could see him showcase his skills in the post.

They have done a poor job getting it to Simmons, but given that Simmons should be taking it to the rim by himself (attacking from the 3 PT line). He's very capable in that respect, and should be more aggressive with it this game.

Simmons has just shut this gym down to close the game offensively and defensively. What a sequence.

Simmons started playing well at around the 7 minute mark then around 3 minutes he just turned it up.

LSUs guards definitely aren't doing him any favors, in terms of his draft stock (though they played great to win the game).

Simmons has strength and a good motor. He'll be a good PF for sure at the next level, but definitely a project for those first few years. Needs to develop better instincts to be an impact player on offense - but he checks all the boxes in terms of physicality and motor, and he plays up to his size.

Also, I still like Jamal Murray in the top 5-8 range, he's got game. And Labissiere is an awful player, my goodness.. can't wait to see what team wastes their lottery pick on that guy

We clearly are watching different things. He is extremely polished. Outside of an outside shot he is the complete opposite of a project.

Nah, not quite there yet. Simmons doesn't know how to get post position against guys his own size + doesn't have a semblance of an outside shot.

To live up to the hype he'll need some seasoning for sure, it will be a while before you can run offense through him

Using this logic I'm curious what draft prospect isn't a project?

Exactly, that's why I'm so puzzled the other poster took exception to me referring to Simmons as such

Very few players have the talent and are well-rounded enough to immediately have elite impact, from day 1. You have prospects like Duncan, Lebron, Durant, Davis, Towns (likely) who were pretty much clear franchise players within 1-2 years. I don't see Simmons quite at that level like some do, but he's definitely a great prospect

The scary thing is - he's already a great player - even with the things he can - and will - improve on. I'd take him over Towns right now - and I was a big Towns fan (still am). But I'd definitely take Davis over both. Remember, a lot of folks had Skal as a top 2 pick to start the season. Skal is miles below Simmons as a player.

I respect that opinion, but I would take Towns over Simmons for his defensive impact + size alone. KAT can anchor a defense as a true center.

Once you add in Towns shooting ability and offensive versatility (and he's a great passing big man himself), it's gotta be Towns hands down for me.

Skal looks pretty awful, from what we've seen he really shouldn't be planning on entering this draft. Not even sure if he'd go top 10-12 right now.

Skal is terrible.
Would have been a top 3 pick out of high school.

Doesn't look like a lottery pick right now... Or even a 1st rounder
