I just don't see the big deal about Jabari. He has talent. He could end up good. I'd love to have him, but I wouldn't trade any of Booker, Warren, or Len for him.
He's a tweener, who hasn't shown the ability to hit the NBA 3, isn't particularly efficient, and has never defended in his career. The odds of him becoming even an average defender are probably very low, so he must become a dominant offensive player to be a really good NBA player. Until he shows he can hit 3s with regularity, I don't think he's really that special offensively. His numbers are thoroughly unimpressive, and they were that even before the injury.
Point being, there's a lot of risk to Jabari that I don't see with these other guys. Booker has proven to be at worst a heady, elite 3 point shooter with a lot of size at the 2 (a weak position league wide). That has a lot of value. Warren has proven to be an offensive dynamo at the 3, with an added 3 point shot that seems legit (his sample size is plenty large this year to judge that). He is one of the most efficient scorers in the entire league. Even if he sucks at D his entire career, he's worlds ahead of Jabari on offense. Jabari is younger, but without a defined position, and so I'd still give Warren the nod. With Len, you have a mobile big who can play 2 ways at the center spot. He's not been consistent, but he's one of the few young Centers in the league that has shown potential on both ends of the court. I've mentioned it a lot on here, but you can't understate the value of 2 way guys. I don't think Len is ever more than a 15 ppg scorer, but he rebounds and blocks shots, which is something Jabari doesn't do.
Jabari could end up really good, but if he wasn't the #2 pick and you removed that hype and draft position from his performance, I don't think anybody sees him as a franchise savior anymore than any of our youngsters. If we're going to make that trade, in all seriousness I'd rather trade for Greak Freak. He was drafted lower but he's way better than Jabari imo with every bit the ceiling.
