Brooklyn still on pace for 3rd worst by his metric. Celtics 6th or 7th seed.

Re: Official BKN-DAL-MIN pick watch Thread 2015-16 season
Even though we have gone through two years of expecting some decent sized move to consolidate some of our draft picks/youth with nothing to show, I think it is coming within the next seven months.
Interesting draft situations for 2016 i am seeing:
-Miami looks like they will not have any picks. Only four players signed for next season
(at half the cap space)
-Cavs only pick is between 55-60
-Knicks will have no picks
-Lakers could end up with just their own 2nd. (Wouldn't it be great if the Brooklyn pick jumps the lakers pick and pushes them to 4th)
-Dallas likely no 1st and only a pick around 45 or later.
-Brooklyn may lose there second rounder to the Clips if they can't hold top 5 team status. That would leave Brooklyn with the 53rd or so pick only.
-Nuggets could end up with four 1st (Rockets/Grizzlies/Blazers/Own w/ right to swap with Knicks).
-Spurs do not have a second round pick to draft yet another soon to be great player from nowhere.
-There is a remote possibility that Minnesota could have zero draft picks. Having the last three number one overall picks should at least get you an eighth seed right?
-Warriors will have their own first, and won't be on the clock again until 2018 where they will have only their own first.
Teams like Dallas, Knicks, and Miami are all in tough situations, where they have aging stars and very few draft picks.
With the cap going up, this is where we are going to see the increase value of draft picks. Free agency is going to be very competitive and drive up the price of middle tier players.

HOLY ****! Who are they going to get as coach? And who is going to want to take over as GM for a team with no draft picks?

I've got mixed feeling about this. This almost ensures that our pick this year is going to be really good, but I'm a little worried Billy KIng isn't going to stick around to make sure our future picks are just as good.

Nets have fired Lionel Hollins and Billy King has been reassigned. The organization is officially a train wreck.

Initially happy, but the Nets were doing just fine being the third worst team as it it is with a knowingly incompetent GM. At this point, it depends on what Prok means by fresh start. If the ownership is willing to trade off Johnson and Lopez for picks, then it is great for us, but it really depends on that. What is this vision they are going for now? We will see.

I'm hearing rumblings that Austin Ainge is the prime candidate to take over as Nets GM.

This could be good or bad, depending on the replacement and their near-medium term objectives. I kinda lean towards bad.
Don't think there's much they can do to drastically change that '16 pick besides making it worse.

Yep, in all seriousness, I don't know if this will be good or bad for the Celtics picks. But the uncertainty surrounding their future is kinda reassuring at the moment to some extent.

Of course it is bad for us.
For this year though? I don't think it make much difference. It may even help us if Brown proves to be worse than Hollins.

If the new guy comes in and decides to blow it up by trading Brook and Thad for picks then it's a grand slam for the celtics. If they keep the status quo it's just fine because the nets have been plenty bad as is. I don't envy whoever the new GM is going to be as I still don't see the sales pitch to attract any FA to sign there

I'm wondering if the Celtics have to artificially create their vision for them. More and more, I like the idea of giving the Nets their pick swap back in 2017 (for Lopez) or maybe their 2018 pick so that whoever comes in as a replacement has a reason to tank out. The question is whether they will be bad regardless of that. Probably just overthinking at this point. The Nets really have no way of truly turning this ship around in the short term so letting them operate as normal would probably be just fine.

I'm leaning towards this being good for us. I could see King stubbornly making deals to incrementally improve the team at the deadline and this offseason. A new GM isn't tied to the mistakes of the past and is more likely to sell off pieces to get back into the draft.

Wow. Prok is going to throw a Godfather offer at John Calipari to return to the Nets as President/GM/Coach I'm guessing.
