I doubt he wants Noah or Rose back, they are towards the end of their career. Dont forget that He won a title with Rondo as a Celtic's assistant. He is part of Team USA so he is plugged in with all of the top players.[/quote]

im all for it

I doubt it. I could see us using Thibs recruit Rondo. I know everyone is sour on him but he was largely apart of that Boston team.

they both seem like strong, arrogant personalities.. maybe they get the best out of each other.

If Thibodaux were the hire, I think he would be the first to ship Brooke's soft a ss out of BK with the quickness. That's the type of Coach I want the front office to put in place. Rather it be Thibodaux or the next man up- rid yourself of the softness Lopez has to offer.

As for the Rondo idea, I would be all over it, even if him being in Brooklyn is highly unlikely.

With the lack of picks and lack of great talent on the roster I would think coaching and front office choices should have some ties to Europe. For the coach maybe wait for Messina to shake loose after the season. There are a lot of good french free agents coming up

Considering you guys don't have many picks in the near future, Colangelo would be a good GM for you guys, he will be able to flip assets and get draft picks for you guys, and he is a really good drafter. But once you guys are out of the lottery (1-3 years from now) should fire him/let him go. He is only good at gathering assets. He doesn't know how to put them together to make it work, well. In our case, Gay, Demar, and Lowry were good on paper. The problem though was that Demar and Gay played the same way, and Gay took the ball out of Lowry's hands. This made Demar and Lowry ineffective. When Masai moved Gay for a bunch of role players, the pieces we had, fell into place perfectly.
TL;DR - He is great for a small stint, to gather assets.

I still think we should consider Luke Walton if we wait until the end of the season. The guy has the ultimate exposure to how basketball has evolved recently, and if Golden State wins again, he might be content with 2 rings as an assistant and want to tackle the challenge of being a head coach.

I was always a fan of Walton's even when he was a player. The guy wasn't the most talented player but his basketball IQ was always the main thing that stuck out to me when he played, so to see him coaching isn't a shock and considering he is a young coach and more than likely subscribes to analytics I wouldn't mind the Nets offering him an interview invite to pick his brain. Its hard to judge what he's capable of because he's coaching a team full of A, B, and C tier players as opposed to the slop we have here but I don't think what he's doing is necessarily a fluke. Walton is pretty damn intelligent when it comes to basketball.

So I was right. ESPN made a big deal out of nothing because they're itching to blow up any sports stories.

Instead of just saying "Bryan Colangelo and Danny Ferry are two of many candidates for the Nets' GM position", it became "Sources say that Colangelo is at the top of the list...stay tuned for another 3 minutes to see if he still remains on the list at all."

It worked. It got the bias and agenda filled 'fans' to buy into the story. Check the General Board. Danny Ferry and Tom Thibodeau have been the two latest stories but Colangelo remains the topic of conversation over there. You would think we signed him and had the press conference already based off the responses.

anyone think ferry comments would cause a distraction or scare free agents away eventhough he only read someone else?

I don't think the Nets are appealing to any of this year's free agents regardless

Tbh, I don't know if 90% of the players in the league would even care as long as they are getting paid.

In February of last year, Horford was asked whether Ferry should be forgiven and brought back. He said I don't know but that's for whatever new ownership team comes in to decide.

Take that for whatever it's worth.

Nets are interviewing.....

Post#157 » by Paradise » Fri Jan 15, 2016 6:48 am

Howard Beck suggests we should hire Bryan Colangelo and pair him with Mike D'antoni.

It's an intriguing idea. I've been advocating for an offensive minded system for awhile now. That's what we should be selling to fans and free agents but D'Antoni is questionable. I'm not sure he is capable of developing talent compared to someone like Terry Scotts or Rick Carlisle.

I think he may have been confusing Jerry Colangelo, the GM the 76ers just hired and has already hired D'Antoni as the lead assistant on Brett Brown's staff, and his son Brian Colangelo, the guy allegedly in the running for the Nets GM. I think D'Antonio would have an easier time assembling the personnel for his 7 seconds or less PnR motion heavy offense in Philadelphia than he would here (trade a pick or Noel for Schroeder + draft Ingram would put them well on their way in that direction)

That means Lopez is a gonner. D'Antoni's system has a strict rule against post ups. He considers it the least efficient play in basketball. BYE BROOK

I am not averse to D'Antoni being the offensive assistant to a head coach but he's with Philly.
