This was a SVG loss. He didn't put the best players on the floor at the 3rd min mark. That was crucial. They should've gotten rest. But the argument goes, they had momentum.

28 seconds left, Pistons ball and he doesn't take a timeout while he had 3 of those left. WTF???

You don't allow a really good defensive team the opportunity to huddle up and discuss strategy. I'm not sure if T. Allen was in at the time but if not you're giving Memphis the chance to put their best defensive players in the game for that possession. The best option is to always play it out imo.

It's really tough. It was a tough call and SVG went with the right call in my opinion. How was he supposed to know Jennings was going to pass to Morris and turn it over? How was he going to know Morris was going to turn it over. Those are the same guys that brought us back and took a 5 pt lead. No. SVG's mistake was taking Drummond out and that was definitely enough to lose the game. Drummond does things we can't see. He's just so big you have to put a body on him and that could've been enough to get the ball back. It's a learning lesson to the whole team but primarily on SVG. Stick with Jackson and Drummond next time. Trust them. If you're going to win, it's because of them.
If I was Drummond and that happened to me, I would call out my coach and demand to stay in the game. He wasn't missing free throws. That was a bad substitution. You can argue to leave Jennings in there. But not Drummond.

I agree with the other fella that suggests SVG left BJ out there for future late game benefit, knowing full well that it probably puts the team at more risk for a loss. Unless theres an issue we are unaware of, theres no other reason to leave the closer on the bench.
IF BJ's 3 went in, maybe this is a win, with great benefit to BJ's psyche.

NBA announces the Morris turnover with 10 sec left should've been a foul on Barnes.

It would've turned off the clock and given Pistons last possession and at worst overtime.
Thanks again NBA
Remember they announced after the first game that Z-Bo should've been called for a foul on the Ersan turnover with 8 sec left that led to Barnes heave.

Appropriate timing with Caldwell being rehired lol.

People are blaming SVG now too? Seriously, he made the right decision. That unit was rolling and if they hadn't choked in the last 3 minutes it would've been a win. Hindsight is 20/20 and I agreed with him keeping that unit out there considering that nothing else worked. This loss is on the stupid mistakes, mainly TO's, and the officiating didn't help either.

If the Pistons would have won, he is a genius. Being they lost, it was Stans fault . . .
Memphis with this core has been a top 6 NBA team for like 5 years now. Pistons hung with them til the end. Fans should be happy the Pistons are relevant and can hang with the elite now. Heck, next year or two, then we can expect to win these games about every night.

I'm not sure it was SVG's fault we lost, but I'll certainly admit to being confused by some of his decisions towards the end there.
It seems like he wanted to ride it out with the group that got the run going in the 4th, but he should have made some changes when that group faltered- which it did when enough time remained to make a change.

When mook missed the mid range shot from the right side I believe with like 3-4 minutes left I thought they might be getting tired except for SJ. Seemed it was like that because bj and SJ just kept the ball at the top of they key dribbling from there on out. Bj did almost hut that three tho. I thought I was in

No dre is not better than this
Dre needs to get his FT''s up to at least 50%, but we aren't counting on that to win games. It always has been hurting the team, also no correlation between dre's FT's and losses

Nah, I think we are actually a better overall team than MEM or close to them at least. MEM has also taken a step back. We lost both games in truly miraculous fashion. If MEM just straight up outplayed us (and they did for two full quarters and then some) I would agree but we had golden opportunities to win both games and we ourselves sealed the deal for MEM by simply playing reckless and also the refs screwing us pretty hard.I can't just be content with losses like these. I'm not taking anything away from MEM because they did what they needed to do to win but when we kill ourselves with such foolish mistakes I'm not going to just roll over and accept that.

Meh I think it was really too close to call. They started slipping with only about 3 min lefts. Do you put in the starters who have been sitting on the bench for nearly a half hour just because the second unit makes a couple bad possessions? Based on how well they played prior to the final 3 minutes it's hard to blame SVG for thinking that unit wouldn't fail so hard. It was really the perfect storm of blunders.

love how there's 2 pages of ppl arguing why we lost and our own coach said 20 TURN OVERS , 20 POSSESSIONS like 20 times. He's right, we were lucky to be in the game.
He did have a parting shot at Matt Barnes , i think he gets just as irritated that Barnes acts like he's Kobe
Found it extremely interesting that SVG knew what Gasol's plus and minus was. I wonder how much info he gets in game and if he makes any decisions off that info
He admited he rode that group too long. He says it, posters here have said it. Probably contributed to it. Tired legs= more TO's
