Mirza is probably our best player this season.

Re: Trade Deadline Countdown....What will we do? What should we do?
It's incredible how other team fans feel like the Suns need to attach assets in order for us to trade Markieff Morris. Not just in that other thread, but on the trade forum on the GB I've seen a Wolves fan seriously think a trade of Kieff/Booker for Kevin Martin was a good trade. His argument was that Kieff has negative value and Booker has positive value and Kevin Martin has neutral value, so overall it balanced out.
Who was it that mentioned the Suns probably have to attach an asset to Kieff in order to move him? Was that Lowe? Whoever it was, I think it was taken out of context. The Suns aren't going to give up assets such as Booker/Warren/Len to move Kieff. I think it was more so geared towards 2nd round picks or maybe at most, the Cavs pick.
I had to get that off my chest. Beyond frustrating coming on RealGM and seeing silly proposals like that. With that said, I can't wait for the Suns to trade Kieff to see what his actual value is.

No, Lowe wouldn't say that. I say to everyone here, try and ignore or respond respectively to all those people with ridiculous opinions on the trade forum about us having to attach assets to get rid of people. I have posted my thoughts a couple of times about how that is ridiculous.
The general board is full of plenty of very well uninformed people. There are some good posters there on occasion, but there are many that don't have a clue, so there is usually no need to respond.
If something is THAT ridiculous and you need to respond, let people know about the thread and link to it from here so multiple people from here can give our opinion and it doesn't look like one person being too homerish on the Suns or trolling.
This is probably the one time in the nba that it would be stupid to attach assets to get rid of someone because of the cap jump, and people don't realize this. There really isn't a need for us to clear cap space unless we get a verbal agreement from a star in FA who costs more than our cap space....but until then it would be ludicrous to attach assets to get rid of ANYONE.
That last paragraph is a good one to copy and post as a reply to anyone saying we need to attach anything to get rid of anyone on our team (Morris, Knight, Chandler, etc).

it wouldn't surprise me if we held on to kieff the rest of the season. i don't see mcd trading kieff for peanuts. we can most definitely get more for him in the summer if he can get his act together the rest of the season. I'm in no rush to trade away an asset for lesser value. it's not like were in a position to make some noise.
i know there a lot of fans here that want to trade him just to get him off the team, but those are the same people that will be bitching a year from now saying mcd didn't get equal value for morris.

Actually, I think it was Lowe, but he was saying Goodwin as a sweetener, and IIRC what he said was that some rival execs were going to ask for a sweetener like Goodwin, but he didn't say we'd have to attach, just that they'd ask. We all know Goodwin has drastically less value than Warren or Booker.
It's just that fans of other teams who don't watch a TON of hoops often don't understand the scenario the other team is really in. Accordingly, you have stuff like Len for Noah on the general board, where everyone is blasting Suns fans for not wanting Noah despite the fact that we were rebuilding and Noah has 0 value to a rebuilding team, while Len has plenty of value to a rebuildng team. Stuff like that is always a part of it. Every fan base thinks it can get something it wants for its moderate role players. We do it too over here sometimes.
That trade alone is awful because we have 0 use for Martin. I wouldn't take him for free. He's not a bad player, just not a fit for what we are, which is a rebuilding team with a few old assets that it still hasn't moved.

He will probably have more value at the end of free agency when teams strike out on free agents they wanted to sign AND they see the crazy contracts being handed out and knowing Markieff only makes $8 million a year.
The only real reason to trade him sooner is to get a guy like Terrence Jones and control his future because you can match any offer or if you get a valuable pick and/or a good young player to help in the future. But those last couple of things are even more probable in the summer (unless someone feels they can help them in the playoffs this year) and getting the upcoming RFA is the main reason to trade him earlier.
We are tanking anyway and Hornacek is playing our vets to gauge their trade value, so it really doesn't matter how long we keep them.

I just listened to a Lowe podcast where he said Toronto should trade for him. He never suggested once that he has some sort of negative value and that we would need to attach something to trade him. He is much smarter than that. I don't know that Archie is a sweetener. Maybe filler.

First rumor/tweet is Lowe saying that. Like I said, he probably doesn't believe that, which is why he wouldn't say it on his podcast, but he wasjust reporting that that's what he's hearing is being asked from other teams.

Wiggins may be a slightly better prospect because he has age on his side and his reputation has in built potential and expectation of no.1 pick, but take that away, and it is close and you could argue he's even not better than Warren.
I still only see Towns as a candidate for top 50 GOAT, which every championship team needs, so unless we had no.1 pick in 2015, we've done as well as possible despite conbuilding strategic failure.
I think this is a clear case of fans overvaluing their own players.
I like Warren and likened him to a 20ppg eventually. But Wiggins is aready a 20ppg at his age... He will only get better.. And I can see Paul George v2.0 but more athletic.

Re: Trade Deadline Countdown....What will we do? What should we do?
After watching the Bulls almost choke to the Sixers, I had a crazy idea:
Suns get:
Rose, Noah, Portis, Sac Pick
Rose, Brown
Booker, Goodwin
Warren, Tucker
Portis, Teletovic
Len, Leuer (Noah- injured)
Gain with Portis and the Sac pick, dump vets that won't contribute to our future, at the cost of Knight and taking on Rose. Rose can see out the season here and we can kick the tyres on him. He expires next season, where he can be flipped as an expiring vet, or retained in case of a Bledsoe injury.
Bulls get:
Knight, Chandler, Morris
Knight, Hinrich
Butler, Knight
Snell, McDermott
Mirotic, Morris, Gibson
Gasol, Chandler
Team gets stacked. Beastly big man rotation. Knight and Chandler can excel because they aren't asked to do more than they are capable of, playing off 2 all stars. Costs them some youth, but they still have a dynamite young backcourt and some decent young talent up front. And they ditch both Noah and Rose, who are both rumoured to be unhappy with their roles.

Really don't think you're gonna get Chicago to take on all that money, plus give up Portis AND a lottery pick. Sounds nice from our end but it takes two to tango.

Totally false.I love how people are out there trying to ruin his value to help some team fleece us. Kieff is a good player on a terrific contract, I'd tell a team if you don't think he is worth it, beat it, we will just keep him and bring him off of the bench until his contract expires. He doesn't hurt us financially and that is the most important thing.
Why would we give up an asset when Kief is going to your team to help, not as a salary dump?

I don't have a probem attaching players to the Kief deal - but Kieff does have good value. He has a cheap contract and IF HE WANTS TO BE - is a good player. When the Suns didn't get Aldridge, I thought - well Kieff can do some of the things LaMarcus can do if he continues t improve. HE hasn't. So, I still stay, get him out of the locker room
As for a trade - Tyson Chandler for Kanter - the Thunder have a chance RIGHT NOW. They have the core, they have the team - to win this title. Tucker would help them too. Kanter and Collison for Tucker and Chandler - who says No.

I really like this trade as the Suns are gaining a ton of cap flexibility. Yes, the idea of Knight and Chandler last summer seemed good - but maybe that isn't the case and reality is, Suns gain a ton of flexibility. I like it.

I get douche bag chills reading that trade idea.
OK here's a counter offer. You give us Wiggins and we'll throw in Len and Warren. Combining the talent is about the same so it's a good deal right?
If I were you I would have probably ripped them apart for that, but this is Real GM and as we all know, not all fans are very informed on certain players or what's fair.

6 years since an All-Star.
6 years since playoffs.
Makes me feel sick we're looking at a lost decade and turning into one of those teams.
I don't think trading fringe players for other fringe players does much but pass the time on RealGM.
Talking about Markieff Morris everyday for 6 months is a delusion about his importance.

Per Coro:
Word. Telly's been our best player for a few weeks now. If we don't trade him, it should only be because we plan on giving him a big, fat contract offer this summer.
For all the talk about trading Markieff Morris in the next few weeks, the player who will carry more demand is Mirza Teletovic. He is on a one-year deal and playing fabulously. Any playoff-bound team looking for a cool veteran to stretch the floor from a big spot will be interested. Teletovic has made 17 of 31 3-point shots over the past four games. Morris has shown better effort since returning to the rotation but not better shooting. He is nine of 28 from the field in this week’s games and was a minus-26 in 22 minutes Friday.

He doesn't make sense on a rebuilding team. Trade him for a late first round pick or a decent prospect on a rookie contract.

Teletovic for Collison and Huestis. Collison has a cheap two years left - always a decent role player. Huestis is another young guy to to add the roster. Or Mitch McGary and Collison
