If only Alex Smith won, we would have a Final Four of #1 overall pick QBs

1998 #1 overall pick Peyton Manning
2003 #1 overall pick Carson Palmer
2005 #1 overall pick Alex Smith
2011 #1 overall pick Cam Newton

But we have three #1 overall pick QB and GOAT Tom Brady, which is still fine.

Cardinals over Panthers - both of these teams seem evenly matched, except for the fact that Carolina doesn't have legit receiving options, while Arizona does. I think Arizona's superior talent will win out.

Patriots over Broncos - Broncos have all the advantages except at QB, which makes the difference imo. Of course, that means Brady has to bring it, and Manning might have a vintage game left in him, but I think if Brady plays up to snuff, and Manning is who he is at this point, then I don't see Denver's offense scoring enough points.

So I've got Cardinals-Patriots in the SB.

SB wont have any entertainment value if the Broncos advance. I personally don't want to see below average Manning struggle once again in the big dance.

Cards haven't looked like the same dominant team the last couple weeks, while the Panthers have looked every bit like a one loss team. This is Cam's year....Panthers are going to take it all.

This feels too much like a Peyton's farewell tour ala Ray Lewis ending with a Ring! I hope I am wrong.

The Panthers deserve to be in the Superbowl with the way they handled THE Seahawks, they deserve it! At home against a suspect Palmer!

Denver vs Carolina.

Meanwhile, this has been my favorite picture of Brady and Manning:
and they have claimed to be friends
Brady always acts and looks like he wants it more!

Nah, I'm really that pessimistic. I'm very good at reverse jinxes/dealing with the karma involved in sports. This isn't one of those times, you wouldn't even be able to tell if I was/I wouldn't be posting here at all.

I truly believe we have no chance to win the Superbowl and I'm sticking to the gut feeling I've had all year. I don't think we beat Denver, because if we make the bowl we would have a chance. It has nothing to do with the match-ups or game itself (though I hate, HATE playing in Denver), but more that I don't think its our year. Last year during preseason, I predicted a Seahawks/NE bowl with you guys winning it, once that actually became the match-up I changed to us winning based on a number of factors involved in the game and my changing inner feelings.

This year my only preseason prediction was that we won't repeat. I've been saying this all year, I don't feel differently now and I will probably bet a small amount of money against us in this game.

No jinxes or reverse jinxes, just my depressing, realist self.

Disregarding all of the above and viewing it from an outside fan's (who knows about the Patriots for some reason  ) perspective: Denver has an excellent pass rush and we barely run the ball. Tom hates playing there and all of our guys are still hurting, including Tom. Gronk particularly could go down at any moment. Denver's defense is going to go all out as well for Manning, and Talib knows some things about Gronk and our offense. We already lost to them after going up by several scores (I know it was Osweiler not Manning but it was the defense that won the game for them). To go back to the karma aspect, what Ash said also has had me worried:
ash_k wrote:This feels too much like a Peyton's farewell tour ala Ray Lewis

Add our faltering defense that played terribly down the stretch last game and was patchy throughout the season, and you have a clear loss imo. Doesn't help that we are statically bad in Denver and that Manning didn't look absolutely awful (just pretty bad) last week.

All of THAT said? Go Patriots!!!!!!!

I may not think we're going to win, but I have faith in the New England Patriots and will always cheer on my team as hard as I can. I want us to win. I love my team. I hope I am wrong.

But I am not wrong. We will lose.

Cardinals/Broncos bowl with Arizona giving Peyton the worst retirement present ever.

Heck If I was in your shoes, I'd feel very confident (Beating Denver). But, yeah I don't see them beating Carolina or Arizona.

Out of the four teams left I feel most comfortable with NE chances getting to SB.
Denver is like Seattle this year something is just off.

The Carolina and AZ game will be a 50/50 toss up like I said with packers game. If cardinals stop the run I like the chances but if Palmer is getting harassed like he did in the packer game no chance in hell.

Hopefully Ellington is more of a game plan for a change of pace back.
oldscho0led wrote:Baseball is all about momentum. Pirates will carry their winning ways and beat Giants in the Wildcard.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

No disrespect, but after this weekends result, Carolina to me is the better team. Most physical team of the four. Their Defensive line mauled the Hawks line. Like you say, the Cards struggled against Greenbay at home. Carolina will win that battle every time. They need to force turnovers to have a chance, imo. That or hope that the Panthers get a big lead and ease up.

It is the Cardinals time, man. Accept it. The only team that has a chance at beating them in the Superbowl is us, and we won't win, because make it there at all.

Some would say Dallas is America's team. Others would say the Patriots. Packers fans would say Green Bay. And they would all be incorrect.

We all know who it really is. NSFW, and that's McCain pre his complete sell out/disgraceful final run for president.

Don't worry, I voted for Obama of course. I'm a Patriots fan: I support greatness.

McCain was a pretty cool dude back in the day though, man. Super liberal in a lot of ways and nothing like the character he created in his shameful last run.

Basically the Cardinals don't have many famous fans. Further supporting my point I suppose.

The most complete football team will win the Superbowl this year. Do you really think the untested Panthers facing a creative defense knowing they didn't score the second half at home in the playoffs, with an injured Olsen and a Cam that won't be able to throw low and fast as effectively, will be able to do anything other than put up a first half td and maybe a score at the end of the first? Whereas that defense is about to get exposed even more. Carroll figured it out pretty **** quickly and out coached Ron down the stretch for sure, and the team was playing poorly and disorganized. Lynch was hurting right? He broke right through a few times in the second half; Cardinals O-line will expose their softness.

And I like Carolina a lot. I want them to win it all this year, and Arizona if not them. I really love Cam as a person and player and their whole culture and interaction with the fans is fantastic. Nice to see a positive football team, they guys I support have to make themselves angry constantly to keep up the competitive spirit so its refreshing to see smiles. Especially with Wilfork gone.

Its not in the Cards for them this year, though.

Hope we get two amazing games regardless of what I think will occur in either match-up, but I'm guessing Arizona wins comfortably. Broncos/Patriots will be another game that makes me age ten years in a few hours. Sigh.

Don't see it. Pete is great at making adjustments. That's why he's a good coach. The Cards O-line will likely struggle vs. their front seven. I don't see them being able to run the ball. Soft? Carolina? Did you watch the first half on Sunday?

Just to be clear, not a fan of Cam or that team. Don't care for his antics. The whole celebrating after a first down, pointing & taking selfies, gets old real fast. But, Just my unbiased opinion on who's the better team. More often then not, the more physical football team wins. Carolina is that.

I'd love to see Manning win another ring and retire on top but I just don't see it happening. The Pats have their swagger back and the Broncos were lucky to beat a wounded Steelers team at home. 24-13 Pats.

Cards-Panthers is a toss up. I'll give the edge to the Panthers because they're at home. Should be a hell of a game between the two most consistent teams in the league this year. 27-21 Panthers.

Cardinals oline isn't bad though that's why Palmer is having a good season just the last two games against Seattle and GB it's been a bit of a let down. Carolina won't be able to stomp on cardinals defense like they did in Seattle it will be a close game

I don't have a lot of faith in Arizona, particularly on the road, but I'll be rooting for them almost as much as I'd be rooting for the Falcons. I'm fine with Denver or New England. I just want to see an epic (possible) finish to the Manning vs. Brady saga.
