Falcons can get Bruce Irvin at the right price

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Jan 21, 2016 4:04 am

Bruce Irvin recently said that he would take less money to stay with the Seattle Seahawks, which is not what he said before the 2015 season as he said he wanted to play for the Atlanta Falcons. However, that doesn’t mean the Falcons should stop trying to pursue him.

According to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com Irvin could be lured by the Falcons if the price is right. Here’s the reason why: McClure noted that Brooks Reed signed with the Falcons this past offseason for a five-year deal worth $22.5 million. Reed did not have the same impact for the Falcons as Irvin did for the Seahawks. So Irvin could get a deal from the Falcons that is worth over $4 million per year.

It would only make sense for the Falcons to sign Irvin. He was born in Atlanta, played high school in the area and he wants to play for head coach Dan Quinn who was the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks in 2013 and 2014. Plus, having Irvin along with Vic Beasley will give the Falcons a much-needed potent pass rush.

Irvin has been disappointing the last 3 years.

He might have been on the juice. He was caught with it and his numbers when down after he came back from suspension.

I didn't notice much of a decline in his stats.
I believe he's just using Atlanta as leverage against Seattle anyway.
