I'm also ok with Murray...folks are jumping halibut he looks to have all the tools to bean nba guard. Top 5 is probably too high, but his demise is a bit overblown.

Just curious, why is he a "monumental reach"?
He has similar stats to Brandon Knight (drafted 8th overall) and he's not even the primary ball handler.

If we land at 3 and are thinking Murray, I really hope we'd trade down. Not that that is super easy, but *IF* we don't like Dunn (or one of the bigs obviously) i think there are lots of teams who will and Murray will be there at 7-10.
I won't turn this into a fantasy trade thread speculating who and for how much, though i would love too

Poeltl is a stud, a potential DPOY. I guess plenty of teams will try to move up in the draft to get him, Poeltl should be priority number 1 for the Celtics e.g. I'm not sure why we would trade down from 3-5 though, unless it's part of a bigger deal to get a potential superstar.

I think it has to do with the age difference. Simmons is a full 13+ months older than Ingram. That's huge in their development. How much better will Ingram be next February? That's when he will be how old Simmons is now.
Ingram will be a stud, too. Don't sleep on him. Don't agree with you on gap between 1 and 2 and 2 and 3. We need to be top 2. I wouldn't be upset at all if we landed Ingram.

Ingram is fine if they pick number 2, but the age thing is a bit overblown. He could be 13 years younger than Simmons and still never be as good. Fit, injuries, team success will impact who ends up with a better nba career, but Simmons is far and away the better nba prospect.

Years is significant when you're referring to teenagers though.

So has Ingram shown a knack for rebounding and distributing in the same manner as Simmons? That is really what sets Simmons apart. Ingram has a much better shot and has freaky length, but folks seem to think Simmons is firing shots over the backboard, he's not Drummond or Jordan or Howard. I'm fine with Ingram if the Sixers land at 2, but the gap between these players is significant.

“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Re: 2016 NBA Draft/College Basketball Thread
If the idea is that players get better. Then why is Ingram being 13 month younger than Simmons make it so he will somhow pass up Simmons. Will Simmons just stop getting better? If thats the case, we should have taken Devin Booker i last years draft...he was the youngest overall and thus obviously will get better while the rest of the senior citizens get worse.
This isn't an Evan Turner situation....at all. Ingram will get better for sure. But part of that is just adding NBA weight and strength and honing the smaller parts of his game. Simmons has an NBA body already, he has most of the little things down (sans shooting lol)...
This idea that being young means you have unlimited potential is silly. Some guys peak early. Some tap into it late. Jimmy Butler came into the league with the idea of being a role player only...and he was "old". He has worked himself into an AllStar and damn near a franchise player.
I get preferring Ingrams game to Simmons but this "he's younger doe" argument doesn't hold much weight to me.

It matters, but not enough to consider Ingram over Simmons. I think that the gap between them is smaller than the gap between 2 and 3, but it is a gap nonetheless.

I am all about Buddy Hield. 54% FG, 52% 3pt, and 90%FT is ridiculous. If we can get him with the Miami pick as a knock down SG I would be ecstatic. He attacks the rim or nails 3s. An analytics guy like Hinkie's dream. He can shoot it off the bounce, or spot up. Needs work on his passing and ballhandling. But man what a scorer he is.

Simmons and Ingram playing at the same time right now, both in some tough road environments. Simmons off to a great start at Alabama. Ingram off to a slow start at NC State.

Ingram finished with 25pts on 10/16 shooting and 4/6 from 3. 7 boards, 3 assits, 2 steals and a block. Since the start of December he is shooting 45% from 3. Hes also a really good perimeter defender.

They both continue to put distance between the 2nd and 3rd picks. This year's draft could have the best top 2 in years.

Agreed. The drop off between 2 and 3 is really big and getting bigger by the week. Now I dont know about Bender, Im just speaking about the guys in college. By the time the draft rolls around I think it will come down to best fit for the #1 pick. I dont think Simmons will have the lock on it anymore. I personally dont think he has the lock on it now. But ya who ever drafts 3rd will be disappointed they missed out on those 2 guys

''They played pretty well on me,'' Simmons said. ''They stepped back a little bit but once I started hitting the jump shot they had to respect me and come out. But there was only so much they could really do once I started attacking.''

You're not getting my point. I'm trying to compare these guys at the same ages. Not that crazy of a thought for teenagers, no? I'm not talking about 28 year olds here. Both of these kids are still developing their games immensely and they are still growing.
Simmons is pretty much a sophomore age wise and Ingram a freshman. What would Simmons be doing if he was in the NCAA last year? That's where Ingram is now.
I'm not saying Ingram is a better prospect, but I was arguing and still will that the gap between #1 and #2 is nowhere near the gap between #2 and #3.
And yes, if Ingram was 13 years younger than Simmons and putting up these numbers he'd be the better prospect than Simmons, ha. He'd be 5 years old.
