NO LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM?
I really don’t have the time to go through all the threads but I’ve been looking for somewhere where I can comment on Jennings’ admission that there are no leaders in the locker room and couldn’t find any.
If you have the gall, as a member of a team to publicly make an admission that there are no leaders among you, then Mr. Jennings, YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK. If that is your thought Mr. Jennings, then you take the imitative. You step up and be that leader that the locker room lacks. Step on toes if you have to and don’t give two rats’ ass whose feelings gets hurt. Honestly Mr. Jennings, you’ve played yourself. You have publicly exhibited that you do not possess leadership qualities.

Re: NO LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM?
Jennings is coming off of an injury that has killed numerous careers in the world of professional sports. And plus he hasn't played like himself just yet so he doesn't have a leg (no pun) to stand on when it comes to leading. You lead by example, not by being the loudest or assertive in nature.
So no, I don't believe Jennings can be that leader, he was last year after we went on that Cinderella run after cutting Smoove, but we have a new PG that we basically maxed out instead.

Re: NO LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM?
Reggie Jackson is the leader, but he has to learn the role. There's no way I expect him to be Isiah or Chauncey. He's got to be Reggie and pave the way. And the first step in doing so is to correct his horrid defensive effort. I'm with SVG, you've got to demonstrate leadership on the court. KCP does it with his effort. Drummond has his moments with beasty performances.
Reggie's got to be the guy. He wanted this. He pouted for it. He's shown signs of being able to do it.
I also like what Mook said about guys needing to hold themselves accountable.

Re: NO LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM?
I don't have a problem with Jennings said at all. He's coming back from injury and is doing a good job, for the most part, of leading the 2nd unit. He can't just come in after being out most of the season and be the vocal leader. He's just trying to get back.
The team needs a true leader and Reggie has shown the ability to lead, but he's still young and he's learning the ropes. You see it all the time, the team lives and dies with Reggie. If he's on, the team follows. He signed the big deal, he wanted the role and now he has to step up and take it,

Reggie is gonna pick it up but we need to consider trading jennings (and not because of his comment)
Jennings is only useful for his offense but he hasn't looked overly good on that end. Hes gotten some dumb t.o and his shot has been mehhhh. Quite honestly, steve Blake has outplayed him when he gets time

It's too bad KCP is such a quiet guy. He's the example settter in terms of overall effort, along with Marcus.

He's our Ben Wallace of sorts. We need a vocal yet example setting leader.

When your franchise player is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) is not easy

I think Baynes and Morris are the only ones with the truly nasty attitude necessary to be locker room leaders. takes that nasty attitude to really get in other players faces and really fire them up. think Laimbeer.

Posted this in the game thread as well. This shows the "leadership" we have. Reggie complaining about the refs and our rookie saying shut up and just play basketball. Can anyone say...Spiral, we're about to go into one.

Re: NO LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM?
I don't think having a "leader" is really important if you have a mature team. However I feel that dre and Jackson have bouts of immaturity and I'm not sure there's anyone that can help them snap out of it.
All I know is SVG must be going nuts. Lack of effort is something that coaches should never accept (which SVG doesn't) and Jackson in particular has put in a pitiful effort on defense recently.
The one silver lining I'm taking out of all this is that we are running into adversity "early" in the season. Hopefully we get this all sorted out so we play our best ball down the stretch. Hopefully the all star break gives the guys a chance to reset as well. Honestly, I'm almost hoping Jackson doesn't make the all star team. With his attitude recently I could see him having all star status making him more entitled. That's just speculation tho.

Re: NO LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM?
I think KCP is a leader right now, he is always hustling and makes timely plays, big shot at the right time, big steal or even big block. I don't think you need to be all that vocal, and leadership is a bit underrated anyway, SVG is the leader.

Re: NO LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM?
Stanley Johnson is going to end up the leader of the team. Him & BJ
Kcp is going to be the heart.
Reggie & Drummond a going to be the engines but they just don't have the leadership qualities. Plus their games are based on athleticism so they will always be hot & cold

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Was about to post this. Wonder what the Kings would want. Maybe nothing since they don't play him and he has a player option next year.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
