Simmons is pretty much a sophomore age wise and Ingram a freshman. What would Simmons be doing if he was in the NCAA last year? That's where Ingram is now.
I'm not saying Ingram is a better prospect, but I was arguing and still will that the gap between #1 and #2 is nowhere near the gap between #2 and #3.
And yes, if Ingram was 13 years younger than Simmons and putting up these numbers he'd be the better prospect than Simmons, ha. He'd be 5 years old.
I get your point, just disagree, which is fine. Simmons has more of an 'it' factor and the shooting is overblown. He should be great, and the gap is large.
I think Dunn is closer than some are proposing as well. His length on defense and overall production is special. The Sixers could fill in the shooting gap in free agency, and still have a much better roster if Dunn is the pick. Simmons and Ingram will be 1-2, but I do think Dunn brings great value as well.

At this point, I don't care which of the two it is... As long as it's one of the two.

Not sure where to post this, but is anyone else watching the Temple SMU game? I would have loved to see the turnout without the snowstorm.

Trade Ish and 2nd rounder for capspace. Sign Pressey, we need the guy. He's got a heart of a champion, I saw that when he took that shot against the Celtics. High potential to be a tank captain.

Simmons still looks like a PF on offense. Looks like he plays high volume of post plays and as a roll man on half court setting. I don't think he can bulldoze his way in the NBA and I think defenders would go underneath the screen if he opts to run PnR as ball handler. But seems high chance to be an elite passer and transition player. He's got that LBJ freight train type feel on the break.

Yea i think initially he's best suited at PF. Will allow him to take advantage of match ups more.
If he expands his game offensively (mainly jump shot) I could see him sliding down to the 3 for spurts.

I think he can play the 3 full time if/when he improves his jumper. Still, he is the type of guy that we would trade whoever is in his way if he had to play the 4.
We can't let ourselves be intoxicated by the fact that Ingram will slide right into the 3 seamlessly, whereas Simmons might encroach on some of our big guys.
I think that if we get the first pick that we should think of the Sixers as Simmons and Embiid. EVERYONE else would then be in the "find a role, or get traded situation."
As much as I talk about Simmons on these boards I am really trying to not think about him as a possibility. It just seems too good to be true given that we would only have a 25% chance at him if we finish with the worst record.

Any of you, make the argument that Simmons isn't a point guard.

I think the only way to make that argument is to say "Simmons can't guard PGs." I think PG is the best way to hide his shooting issues. Plenty of excellent PGs can't shoot.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Ye, I think the only way you are going to be dissapointed with this kid is if you don't play him with the ball in his hands. He will be the primary facilitator and defend 4's.

Re: 2016 NBA Draft/College Basketball Thread
Everybody is worrying about Simmons shooting, but when I see his form in mid range shots, it doesn't look bad. Maybe he just needs to get into the gym to practice and develop confidence. Jordan, Magic and Kidd weren't great shooters when they first started out in the NBA. Jordan eventually became good while Magic and Kidd became acceptable. I"m not even sure Lebron was that great when he first entered the league. Growing into a 6'10" frame as a teenager can do funny things to mess up your coordination. Maybe he just needs time to mature to get the shooting part of the game down.
