After being an assistant coach for two years of my son's football team, I coached him for two years with uneven success. He progressed to traveling team (which actually had an excellent coach) and played fairly well as a center midfielder and center back. They even won everything one year which was huge for his self-esteem. Meanwhile, I kept coaching other kids for a couple more years and it was a lot more fun - less stressful, even when you have to deal with the parents (which can be very unpleasant.)

Anyway, my advice would be to keep coaching, but if you can find a camp where he can raise your child's skills, it's a great idea - especially if it serves as a door to another level.

You know how they have the glass cases with the fire extinguisher and the small axes? We play the Clippers on the 7th and San Antonio on the 9th. They are tough games, but... they coincide with Carnaval. Feb 6-9.

This year my team, São Paulo, which still doesn't have an icon on realgm, has to play a prequalifying match with a team from Chile to qualify for the qualifying rounds of the Copa Libertadores. Our first good game is Feb 14 versus our rival Corinthians:

Cheers, Gom. I was able to vent and kinda over it now. I know what i accomplished w/ the boys. I don't kneed any acknowledgement from anybody including HC.

I like coaching my son. I trained him about 8 months prior to him being accepted into rep team. He is 8 and has the form of an experienced teenager in his shooting. We work tirelessly on his handles also and has far better fundamentals than his entire team. But he has far less game time experience. I want to be part of his basketball journey so any chance i get being Assistant Coach i'll take it. I will soon be assistant coach for his domestic team also.

We've been blessed to have great parents who give us the go ahead w/ anything we decide w/ the kids. But regardless we make sure everybody gets their minutes.

I love this gig. I feel i have alot to offer these kids and my HC in regards to helping them develop, helping motivate and disciplining them. I'm still learning and will continue to stay humble, swallow my pride and ego and sooner or later i will get my chance to be HC in the future.

Seems to me you did a much better job than HC and after two good games by your boys he wanted to jump in and reap the reward but failed miserabely. I'm much younger than you so I'm not really in a position to tell you this, but life isn't always fair.

Keep doing what you're doing, it looks like you're pretty good at it. You'll be rewarded soon enough. Hell, if the boys are playing that much better than last year that's a reward in itself if you ask me.

This whole sequence is actually pretty funny, Maxiell chasing the Chinese player the length of the court while an unidentified small Chinese man runs to the court and attempts to protects the tall Chinese player who glances back at Maxiell as if to intimidate him all while Beasley is telling his teammate "I got this" and gets uncomfortably close to Maxiell for minutes trying to keep the peace... :lol:
