Hawks Trade Scenarios For Jeff Teague
I like Teague and think he is a great NBA point guard, but if certain events transpire, what deals could the Hawks get for Teague? Maybe the Kings would still be interested in a trade for a draft pick or player?

'Certain events' being we sign CP3?
Even if we do, unless we get good value for Teague, we should still resign him. Under the QO system, we can pretty much force a S&T to a team that would really want him.

Re: Hawks Trade Scenarios For Jeff Teague
Teams could actually force our hand by making a lucrative offer to Jeffrey while we are pursuing the big fish. This could cause the situation where we'd be forced to let him go for no compensation. The only thing that helps is that nearly every team has a better or comparable point guard already so that will depress the dollar amount he could receive. Only Sacramento, Utah and perhaps Milwaukee, considering that they've reached the end of their rope with Jennings and LD may take over, would be teams both interested and would have the cap to go after Jeffrey. This being the case that limits sign and trade scenarios. Dallas is the only other team I could think of that needs an upgrade at point and would likely require a sign and trade to get it done.

if the events happen, the mathematically, the Hawks couldn't do $4 million a year for Teague, they would just have to let him go for nothing. so i'm thinking, at least try to get a draft pick.

Teague for the 7th pick
Teague for John Henson
Teague for Isiah Thomas and the 36th pick
I would like to see Drew and Teague team up again, i think they have a good partnership. If not, maybe the Kings would be interested. Hawks can get a good back up point guard on a cheap contract with Isiah Thomas, and shave alittle bit off the cap a few million to maybe help resign Korver or Zaza.

I'm not sure Drew was ever comfortable with Teague.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Teague for John Henson sounds about right.
Drew could bring our backcourt with him to MIL as Devin Harris also been linked to the Bucks.
And apparently John Henson and Larry Drew Jr had a less than stellar relationship while at UNC.
Could prove to be a less than ideal work situation. This trade clears that up and moves Sanders to PF.

You are completely wrong with that. I don't know where you get your whole Drew, Teague thing?

Guess you were born yesterday. They have a history that goes back more than this year, even though, if you'll look, you'll see complaints about Drew's treatment of Teague in this season.
"... if you'll look ..." I know - waste of time.

TCorbin, do you really want to go back and start checking the accuracy of your ridiculous statements and predictions?

No way would the Bucks move Henson for Teague. Henson and Sanders are the building blocks for Milwaukee going forward.

Yeah, we know. Just got carried away. Price of being a Hawks fan: we get drunk over just a little bit of good news.

Take from a fan who watched Josh Smith for 9 years: if Larry Sanders is one of your best players, you're team will be limited going forward.
Trade Sanders as soon as his value rises. Trust me. He has not the mindset or the skill to warrant being franchise building block.

You sure about that buddy? Seems like Henson and Sanders both are largely expendable at this point...

Reviving this old thread...with ATL Boy's permission.
Zach Lowe over at ESPN makes a similar suggestion of Teague to Utah and (separately) indicates the Jazz may not be able to keep Hayward beyond next year.
Sounds like a perfect swap.

ATL Boy wrote:I don't think we'd have to make an aggressive trade. I mean I'd still like to trade Teague for a wing (you mentioned Gordan Hayward, that would be something I can get behind), no matter what.If we can do that kind of trade, and slide a Hayward into our starting lineup, while picking up a vet backup PG, then I think our bench in the playoffs could be lethal...

Utah has acted boldly before in the face of tough choices, and the bold move at next month's trade deadline would be flipping Hayward or Favors as their values crest.
...They're poking around the point guard market now, according to several league sources, and they'll look again over the summer.
One place the Jazz might look: Atlanta, where it's starting to feel like the Jeff Teague-Dennis Schroder partnership is approaching its breaking point. That's a dicey deal. Atlanta wants to make another run at Cleveland, and it has had major trust issues internally with Schroder.

Re: Hawks Trade Scenarios For Jeff Teague
Lowe does mention that Utah won't move rotation players on expiring players...so it HAS to be now while Teague has more than a year left under contract:
We should have been preparing for this LAST Summer. Mack shouldn't be here, but we instead should have a VETERAN Point Guard to mentor both DS and (to a much lesser extent) Teague, thus making it easier to move either if the right deal came along.
Utah won't deal rotation guys for someone on an expiring deal, and Teague has two years left on his contract.

Although I'm late to this thread. The Hawks actually had the opportunity to draft CP3 yrs ago, but elected to go with Sheldon "The Landlord" Williams.

Anyways, as for the Teague/Schoeder(sp) situation, I can agree that one of the two may need to be move for cap purposes as the Hawks have Horford's FA status to deal with in the offseason. The last things that needs to happen is boxing yourselves in on the issue of cap space and have a chemistry disruption in the PG ranks between both guys. I suspect that's what's going down with my Magic among Oladipo and Fournier although nothing has been indicated in the media among many more issues.

You got it man. I'm actually a fan of your tendency to bring up old discussions when the old talking point becomes relevant again.

Marvin Williams. And it's because our GM at the time, Billy Knight, loved Marvin's versatility as a 6'7 player who could "do it all." He also thought that CP3 was "too small." It's no surprise that he's no longer in a decision making role anywhere else in the NBA.
