The potential suspension will depend on what injuries the equipment staffer has and the details of the incident we dont know about. Could be the whole season, could be no suspension at all.
The reason I'm calling it whole season has to do with DeMarcus Cousins. Some years ago, after the Kings lost to the Spurs, Cousins confronted Spurs broadcaster Sean Elliott in a hallway. Many saw it as a threat of violence. NBA suspended Cousins for threatening a broadcaster for two games - no punches were thrown. The Griffin incident is Cousins-Elliott continued times 1000. Not only do you have a punch thrown off the court, you have Griffin confronting the guy again to throw another punch.
There's also the marketability factor. Griffin's highlight reel plays brought the franchise out of the gutter and inspired David Stern to veto the original Chris Paul trade that would have sent him to the Lakers. Stern pretty much assisted the Clippers in marketing Griffin. For this incident to come to light, the NBA will definitely not to market or promote Griffin anytime soon. What he did in punching the equipment staff manager and friend has already caused repercussions within the league. This could become the Kermit Washington incident all over again.
