Gonna be an "interesting" game on Friday at Mainz.

Xhaka's still suspended and Dahoud will miss the game cause he'll have a small procedure on his injured hand.
So Schubert either has to play Stindl in midfield or it's going to be creativity galore with Nordtveit + X(Schulz? Sow? umm...ehhh...???) in central midfield...

Would be cool if Sow was ready to step in, but I'm not getting my hopes up. I wonder if Schubert will try Fabian Johnson or Hazard as part of the double pivot, if not using both as part of a midfield trio in front of Nordveit. Maybe something like:



With one of the CBs or Nordveit coming off for Drmic/Hoffman/Korb if you need to chase the game. Could be a big opportunity for the younger Hazard to impress himself on the new coach.

Backing Serena as usual, but I find Tennis hard to follow in recent years. I was a big Sampras fan, but the players back then in general seemed easier to like as people. I was always more of a Venus fan so its sad to see her sister surpass her entirely as well.

I just can't find any stars I can connect with. I'm basically a Djokovic fan by default but the dude is so milquetoast. I hope the next generation is different, as the level and quality of play only continues to increase.

Kerber made it to the final! But the bad news is that Serena looked absolutely dominant against one of the best players in the world again. Final will be as tough as it possibly could be.

Problem with all these German WTA players post-Steffi is that they shine in 1 or 2 Grand Slams, the press starts to hype them, compares them to Steffi and then they just fade away after that. Lisicki, Petkovic, Goerges etc.

My main problem with many of the German WTA players is that they cry more than they actually play tennis. They're so freaking annoying. But like Det said, Kerber is nothing like the others. She'll already be top 5 player after the tournament and if she beats Serena (huge if, I know) she'll be number 2 in the world. Crazy.

Radwanska has never been able to beat Williams in her career as her defensive game style doesn't work against Serena.

Tennis is like one of the most unwatchable sports me. I don't doubt that these players are very skilled but I just can't understand how you can actually watch it.

Nicolas Kiefer was a top five player and Rainer Schüttler made it to the Austalian Open final back in the day.
And Kohlschreiber always seems to beat Isner during the Grand Slams.
Also, we've got a talent in Alexander Zverev but he's only 18 and had bad luck drawing Murray in the first round.

If you would've ever played handball you wouldn't say something like that.
Though, you've got to be nuts doing so given that you're killing your knees before you turn 30 and there's also no bailout calls like there are in basketball.
Of course, you could also be insane and play as a goalkeeper, having fun to be whacked with that ball multiple times...

Well, I personally played some tennis(for fun) during my youth and got to watch Becker and Graf play.

I also really like that it's one on one with no teammates able to bail you out.

I have no issue with Federer and he has been a joy to watch. He may even be the only reason I've kept up with the sport post Sampras, but again, I find the guy to be extremely vanilla and uninteresting in terms of personality/off court stuff.

Sampras is my GOAT, but I think Rog is the actual GOAT.

Glad Kerber made it because she's the most attractive (physically) opponent Serena could have in the finals, but I can't see her winning it.

Our handball national team is simply amazing. A guy who didn't make the team and joined them a couple of days ago because of the injuries decides the game in the final seconds of the OT.

What an absolute pile of **** that game was.

It's so **** easy to score against us and I'm pretty sure Raffael's always crapping himself against Mainz, always hitting someone from three meters out.

We'll probably have to hope for Bayern or Dortmund to win the cup, if we somehow want to sneak into EL at 7th place, playing somewhere in Siberia next June, to start EL-Qualification...
