Re: Ben Simmons
Beautiful form and technique on a jump shot made by Simmons against Oklahoma. He is getting alot more confidence in taking and hitting jumpers. 5 Assists already in just the first half in getting his team mates involved and having his team up by 8 against the number 1 ranked OKC.

I feel like he can score at will
But right now knows getting his teammates involved is the way to win

Agree. In the second half he is scoring at will. Honestly looks like Simmons is playing against high school players.

Kid is great. They could have used some of those at will buckets lately

It is MIND BLOWING that LSU has not let him touch the ball the last 5 mins of this game.
Mind blowing.
How does he not at least TOUCH THE BALL.
Not sure if this is on the coach
If his teammates don't like him
Or on simmions for not DEMANDING the ball at some point
Or if this is all fine because he is allowing his teammates to step up

Re: Ben Simmons
The way LSU play is a disgrace. How Simmons isn't involved in every single offensive possession is ridiculous.
If it's the coaches plays or his teammates refusing to pass the ball or Simmons being too passive I don't know. But they would've beaten Oaklahoma if the played through Simmons in the second half. They completely went away from him.

God LSU are a bunch of selfish hogs. Not a single play was run for Ben in the entire game. Simmons with 6 of 7 from the field creating everything himself and not a single play run for him.

I don't think it's the players. They seem to go to him a lot and enjoy playing throw him.
There are just times where he doesn't seem like he wants the basketball. Today seemed like one them. There were a couple of times where he had good spacing at the top of the key and just swung ball during the last 4 minutes of the game.
He will grow into his talent though and we will forget all about this

Re: Ben Simmons
This is why Simmons is going to be even better in the NBA than in college. In the NBA the coaches will actually run plays and utilise his incredible and fascinating many strengths. He is one hell of a player and so unbelievably gifted. His stats don't tell the true story from today's game. When you see him get the ball and how unstoppable he is taking it to the rim and now even taking jump shots, you just know this kid is going to be special. It's unfortunate with LSU that his team mates are so selfish and ball hogs. You honestly get the feeling that because Ben steals all the limelight that some of his teammates will do anything to look for their own games at the detriment of the team. There is just way to much hero ball going on. The thing that shocked me today was just how good Ben is at defence. He is one hell of a defensive player and his arms just look so freaken long out there when he is guarding someone.

With 30 seconds to go he's in bounding the ball and putting a screen on.
In the last 4 minutes they went from being up 3 to being down. Without Simmons taking a shot and literally touching the ball 3 times.
It looked a lot like there were players on LSU who wanted to be the hero in front of the big tv audience.

Re: Ben Simmons
There were also MANY times when simmions was open for an easy layup or lob pass, or cuts, or dives, and LSU didn't hit him at all.
Playing with players who can actually pass would be great.
Are college coaches just that bad that they cannot draw up a play to get their best player the ball?
Hield Showed up huge though.
I didn't really watch him much on defense thou. But he could be a effective shooter at the NBA level, coming off of screens and kickouts. Not a lottery pick, but hope he goes to the right spot.

I didn't see anyone that wanted to be the hero. They played hard and together the entire game. You don't have to demonize that great effort today to rationalize what happened with Simmons.

Are you watching the same game as everyone else bud? There were no plays run for Simmons whatsoever. That is not what anyone would call playing together. They failed to utilize there best strength. Their players all look for their own shots even if they aren't there and try and play hero ball instead of going in for a sure 2 points pretty much every time with Simmons. Even with nobody looking for Simmons and failing to run any plays for him, Simmons still had a phenomenal game in his limited touches. 6/7 from the field, 9 rebounds (4 offensive) and 5 assists and was probably most impressive on the defensive end. This is why Simmons is going to be way better in the nba because coaches will run plays for him and utilize his ridiculous strengths and abilities. You get the feeling when watching Simmons that he is close to unguardable when he takes it to the rim or decides to score. If LSU starts to run plays for Simmons and his team mates stop hogging it, today's game would have been a win over Oklahoma, no question. He is that good.

Did you watch the last 5 minutes or what...?
For the best player in college ball to only be touching the ball 4 times in the last 4 minutes is pretty bad.
Quarterman taking it to the rim twice and being blocked.
Can't remember who it was missing a three and another miss at the top of the key.
All of this after 3 time outs and not having one play designed for Simmons to do what he does best and that's creating and driving.
Why would quarterman be the one trying to take it coast to coast in the last 3 seconds to win the game? Not one LSU player ran to the inbounds to make sure Simmons would receive the in bounds pass to go coast to coast.

do you understand that not every team runs set plays for its players or stars. They have offenses that put them in positions to read/react and attack. He had a great game but there offense is fluid enough for him to get however many touches he wants...if wants to get the ball he can flash or even attack from from the wing or top of the key. His teammates don't look him off.
He will be better in the NBA because it will be more wide open but he is really good here too. What I take offense to is you calling THIS performance today selfish by those kids...i didnt see that and doubt it happened. They played hard and together and put up a great effort against the #1 team in the country.

The dissaponting thing is they would've won if Simmons was given the ball more. That's the dissaponting thing.

Sikma it's not just today's performance by some of Ben's LSU team mates that I'm calling selfish. I've witnessed this throughout the entire season. There are particular players on this team that are selfish and consistently look for their own shots when they just aren't there or when there were so many better options. Way to many misses and bad decisions time and time again. They don't pass it to Ben when they should, specifically when it would have easily resulted in easy buckets. These players are being selfish and everyone here can see it.

I've watched them several time this year and they've had games like that. But today(what i commented on) was not about that. Today they played a good game. They were together and left it all on the floor. Lets not try to poo poo on this performance to rationalize the lack the lack of touches for the prospect you're enamored with.

I'm also talking about today's game. What your saying is wrong. His team mates did hog it today and were selfish. Why???... because time and time again, they didn't pass him the ball when he was open or run a single play for him. As a result in many cases, easy buckets weren't made, leading to another loss.
Today's game wasn't a win, because some of the LSU players hogged the ball in crucial moments and looked for their own shots at the detriment of the team. If they had of went to Ben the majority of the time this would have been a win for LSU. You've seen when Simmons gets the ball to score, he pretty much connects at will and nobody is able to stop him. So why isn't he utilized time and time again?
It was the selfish play of some of the LSU players today that resulted in the loss in a very winnable game. This team could really go far in tournament if they quit the hero ball and stopped being selfish and instead ran plays for their best player and most unstoppable offensive weapon (and looked for him when open to score).
