Myles Turner gets his first NBA start/Develops

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Fri Jan 29, 2016 12:58 am

Myles Turner getting the start tonight at the 4 spot. I don't recall seeing him play power forward much even during his time off the bench. But it's great to see him getting more playing time even if so far he seems a little unfamiliar with where exactly he is supposed to be. Good shooter and his touch around the rim is particularly nice, and I haven't seen that mentioned much.

I think it's a solid move and hope they try to stick with it.

Hope you don't mind, I commandeered this thread to kind of be a catch all on "general Myles Turner talk", especially about his development. - Scoot

Turner comes up with a 9-17 shooting performance for 20 points with a +10 for the evening. I'd say that's a solid place to start. Good win.

Very solid first start, Myles is fun to watch. There's no way you can defend his step back jumper (almost reminds me of Dirk, Durant), and he does have great touch around the rim. He has a great feel for where the bucket is and doesn't have to see it before he let's the ball go. Hawks tv announcers were impressed and even mentioned his moves around the bucket were very Hakeem-esque. I also think he compliments Monta's game very well. I'm looking forward to those two developing chemistry on the pick n' roll.

Not trying to compare him to hall of famers, but he has skills at 19yo that you have to love. The recent Q&A with Bird talking about his work ethic has me really excited about where he could be in a few years.

Yeah, he seems a GREAT fit at the pick n' roll/pick n' pop, and thus, a great fit with Monta.

Guy is already better than Kevin Love,
he is almost automatic from mid range it seems, can he extend his range to the 3pt line? if so then god damn.

He hasn't shot many in-game, but the coaches claim he makes them pretty often in practices.

That's pretty bold.

But, he wa shooting the 3 pretty well I'm camp and summer league. At the least, the corner 3 would definitely be in his arsenal.

Pacers got lucky. Combination of bad useage at Texas and awkward running style mustve shied teams away.

A guy with his talent/potential should never be drafted out of the top 5. Hes a rare breed.

So, Candace Buckner of the Indy Star just posted a couple tweets that seemed interesting.

Add all this in addition to Myles Turner's charitable work, and it looks like we may have hit the mother lode, in terms of drafting. Maybe he doesn't become a star, but he sure as heck looks like he'll never embarrass us, on or off the court.
