Sup guys, moving to Denver this week..
Im a mavs fan.. (albeit from NJ).. but I have no gripes with going to a Nugs game, would love to, actually.
Im big into outdoorsy things so I am looking forward to living there...
But my main question is do the Broncos blow away the rest of your sports teams? They seem to cover a lot of the areas sports team interest. Do the Rockies/Nuggets get much attention in comparison?

Re: Off-Topic: Moving to Denver
As far as the local media is concerned, the Broncos are the only sports team in Denver for 6 months of the year. And even in their offseason, the Broncos get the most radio coverage. The Rockies become the talk of the town in April, but everyone stops caring by June when they inevitably fall out of the playoff race.
As much as I hate to say it, the Nuggets fan base kind of sucks. Even back when they were in the playoffs every year, the atmosphere at the Pepsi Center was never great. But if you like getting good seats for cheap prices, now is a great time to be a fan.
Welcome!

Re: Off-Topic: Moving to Denver
kind of sad to read this
But I already had the feeling that the nuggets fan base is not very big
some time ago I was bored and took a look at old topics when melo, ai/ billups were nuggets... even then same story

Re: Off-Topic: Moving to Denver
Well Im used to not being able to get tickets at MSG or Barclays...good to know I can maybe afford a game.
I figured as much with the Bronco's...Im sure their ticket prices are out the roof.

The Nuggets have a bandwagon fan base. When we were making the playoffs, the crowds would actually be pretty good. When we had AI/Melo, tickets were pretty expensive. Right now tickets are very cheap, so that's a plus.
Broncos have been sold out for 30+ years so you have to go the old stubhub route, but I've been able to get some good deals on Broncos tickets.

Re: Off-Topic: Moving to Denver
From an old timer here, I remember the Nuggets filling the arena every game night for years. David Thompson, Dan Issel, Fat Lever and Alex English were part of winning teams for decades and the crowds were huge. It can happen again when the Nuggets are winning again. This Nuggets team has a lot of potential to fill the Pepsi Center but it will take some time and the right additions to this core.
Canned in Denver.

I agree, many people on message boards are not old enough to remember those teams, but they were very good teams and drew large crowds. The 90s decimated the fan base, just when the rebuild started to get traction the let Mutombo walk due to ownership having money issues, and for many fans that was the last straw. The Nuggets need to spend time rebuilding the team with players people can get behind, that fans at least feel have a chance to become contenders and people will start coming back. They are on the right path right now, I just hope they don't screw it up.
