I would of liked to see Hornacek till the end of the season. Wish nothing best for coach.

Sports never gets to me but the Suns are just toying with my emotions because of our **** owner. :oops:

Do. Not. Hire. David. Blatt.

Lets go after someone who is all about D first and let the rest take care of itself.

Wow. Thank you for posting this. This is pretty shocking considering that a lot of people thought he might last until the end of season since he had not been fired earlier.

Firing coaches is the most short sighted thing done in professional sports.

Cleveland got rid of Blatt with a winning record and we canned Jeff after getting absolutely destroyed by really terrible teams and looking like a d-league team out there. I don't see Jeff as the entire cause of the situation but firing him was the right thing to do.

I'm not even sure what reality the Suns front office and $arver are in if they seriously think we still have a shot this season. I seriously pray we don't over achieve again with a new coach and win a bunch of meaningless games

Odd timing. I thought they would've held on till the end of the season as he's clearly the go-to guy if we're truly in Tank Mode!!!

Hope they have someone good lined up who will tank the hell out of it!

Right, that is my concern. Our tank is pretty strong right now, wish we had like 5 less wins though, but the chance of getting Simmons is pretty real and I don't want to mess that up. I imagine we run with interim the rest of the season and pick up someone in the offseason?

Finally thrown him off the sinking ship. Let's see who emerges as captain and hope they can do a better job. I just hope it's someone who can communicate effectively with the players as it's seemed Hornacek lost them a while ago.
If Booker regresses though I'm gonna be pissed!

Faarkk.

Now they'll rally and probably win a couple in the next week or so.

Hornacek was doing well driving the tank.

In any case.. The replacement better be on board with getting a top 2 pick.

Good luck to Hornacek... He will contribute on a veteran squad.

I am hoping this motivates Kieff enough to play some basketball for the next couple of weeks so he ups his value and we can actually trade him for an asset.
Also hope this means we stop playing Tucker 40 minutes a night.

The Phoenix Suns fired coach Jeff Hornacek on Sunday night, league sources told The Vertical.

General manager Ryan McDonough informed Hornacek of the decision upon the Suns’ return to Phoenix after a 91-78 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.

The loss was the franchise’s 14th straight on the road with a roster decimated with injuries. The Suns have lost 19 of 21.

The interim coach is expected to be one of two assistants, either Corey Gaines or Earl Watson.

For the 14-35 Suns, the situation turned into an impossible task for Hornacek. A month ago, ownership fired Hornacek's top two assistant coaches, leaving him with an inexperienced staff. The team also lost Eric Bledsoe to a season-ending knee injury and has been dealing with an unhappy Markieff Morris the entire season since his twin, Marcus, was traded in the offseason.

The Suns were missing four players, including their three top scorers in Hornacek’s final game as coach.

Hornacek, a popular ex-Suns player, was second in NBA Coach of the Year voting in his first season in 2013-14, improving the Suns from 25-57 to 48-34. Phoenix was 39-43 a year ago.

After ownership fired his top assistant, Mike Longabardi, in late December, Longabardi was recently hired to become the top assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I want somebody who is good at developing young players. This should be our goal for rest of this and next season.

I'm sick of trying to compete each season and failing.
