Who was the last college SENIOR to go top 5?

Late lotto area... I could see a team go a bit higher to fill a need.

Dude is going top 10. Would be a great fit on the Bucks.

Bucks don't need a pure PG seeing as how we have had a good offense all year without having an actual PG. Our guys take turns bringing the ball up and just run the offense from there. Imagine how many open 3's Khris and Hield would get with Jabari and Giannis constantly driving and kicking it out to them. I would take him over Murray for sure.

Some people are failing to recognize that Hield has more to his game than just shooting the 3, he is plenty athletic and has shown a complete game this year. 6"9' wingspan and maybe even bigger depending on when he was last measured, good athlete, and good going to the rim.. he shoots nearly half his shots at the rim. Also plays within the offense and doesn't force up bad shots as many have mentioned, good bball IQ. Also helps he is by all regards very coachable and has dramatically improved over time

He is definitely going in the top 10, could crack the top 5. I don't know what some of you are watching.

Seriously, burning a top10 pick in Hield should be punishable and in late lotto there are just no teams with that type of need honestly, the highest I can see him going as of now is 22 to PHI (via MIA).
Maybe Denver could gamble, even though they have similar profiles (GHarris) with higher ceilings, but having 3 top16 picks give you options, so who knows.

I hope he goes top 5/10. Maybe a steal will drop to my team.

4 year plays from last several drafts that went in lotto

Frank Kaminsky went 9th... (2015)
Doug McDermit 11th (2014)
cj Mccolum 10th (2013)
Jimmer 10 (2011)
Terrene WIliams 11th (2009)
Tyler Hansbourgh 13th (2009)
Jason Thompson 12th (2008)
Acie Law 11th (2007)
Al Thorton 14th (2007)
SHELDON WILLIAMS 5th (2006)
Brandon Roy 6th (2006)
Randy Foye 7th (2006)
JJ Reddick 11th (2006)
Hilton Armstrong 12th (2006)

So, in the last 10 drafts, in the lotto picks, 140 lotto picks 14 of them were 4 year seniors. 10%
Of those 14 players, ONE went top 5 (SHELDON WILLIAMS)

Its been 10 years since a 4 year senior went in the TOP 5.

Also, look at those players... how many of them would you be happy your team picked? (JJ Reddick? Roy for a few years? CJ Mccolum)

I like what I seen from heild, I think his NBA comp is JJ Reddick... and I think he should be drated in about that same spot... late Lotto.

McCollum, although he was a special case with his injury

There is the list...
Who should have went top 5?

Brandon Roy for sure (Injuries aside, he was one of the best SG in the NBA for a few years)
JJ Reddick? (One of the best shooters in the NBA for many years, should be effective for many more)
CJ Mccolum in the disatrious 2013 draft? Top 5 (Anthoney Bennet, Victor Olidipo, Otto Porter, Cody Zeller, Alex Len)

Basically...
Hoping Hield is somewhere between Brandon Roy and JJ Reddick... which doesn't sound that unreasonable.

Good call, I hadn't even thought of McCollum. The guy I was thinking of was picked in 2012.

Spoiler:
2nd round pick Draymond Green

Hoping vs expecting... very different...

Hield has shown GREAT ability to hit the 3 point shot, and can come off screens, and get his shot off fast.

At worst you are hoping he can be a JJ Reddick type weapon on offense. (running off screen, and shooting off kick outs)
However, Hield does have a little athleticism, and could have some swagger and driving ability, thus, MAYBE, hoping he can be a Bradon Roy type (4-year college senior, who turned into a very good 2-way SG)

Not saying 'Guarantee Hield is ROY and All-star!!!'

Just saying somewhere between JJ Reddick and Brandon Roy is what the can ULTIMATLY expect the best case to be for Hield... Or I am completely wrong...

I think some of you guys are way off with this kid. Surprised he isn't a consensus top 10 pick yet (he will be by the draft), he has so many things going for him with a high floor and high ceiling.

52/52/90 on 16 shots a game + much more to him as a prospect than just shooting. Uhhh, yes please

Buddy is Shawn Respert 2.0. Sweet stroke and a threat to score every time he touches the ball over half court.
