Yeah, initially I was going to leave Warren out of it, but I thought that wouldn't be enough. Trying not to be too homerish. We'd go with:

Bledsoe/FA/Cleveland pick
Booker/Bogdanvic
Hayward
Free Agent/Leuer (hopefully)/Len
Chandler/Len

I am not sure Utah does that trade. I think they have a nice core and Hayward is a known part of that core.

I wouldn't have thought so, but it recently came out that they are going to have cap problems if they want to keep all their guys, because they all hit their second contracts around the same time.

Knight/Warren + Cleveland pick is most ideal for the Suns. But if we had to, I'd include the 2017 Miami pick too or swap it instead of the Cleveland pick. Or maybe add Bogdan.
I just want to get rid of Knight and if it means including some small assets here and there while getting a quality player in return, I'm all for it.

Oh good to know. Its my theory about the Sixers - by the time they get to a point of being decent, all these top picks will be on second deals and the cap space will run out.

As for Hayward - I am open to anything that helps the roster and as long as Kieff is off the team.

Yeah his deadweight helped capsize the ship in the first place. We should throw him out but that contract is nearly unmovable and we will eat it as a sunk cost

Came across an article (on a site I've never heard of...linked from twitter) about Jeff Hornacek being fired and the Suns needing to blow it up. It mentioned a few trade ideas.

Step 1: Breaking Up the Backcourt Band

Houston Rockets Receive: PG Brandon Knight and PF Markieff Morris

Phoenix Suns Receive: PF Terrence Jones, PG Ty Lawson, SG K.J. McDaniels and 2018 first-round pick

Houston and Phoenix apparently had serious discussions about a Jones-for-Morris swap, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein. This expands upon that purported interest.

The Suns have no business sinking $25 million-plus annually into the backcourt pairing of Bledsoe and Knight. Booker’s rise has made one of them expendable, and it will be harder to capitalize on Bledsoe’s value when he won’t suit up until 2016-17.

Knight has mostly underachieved in Phoenix. He owns one of the team’s three highest offensive box plus-minus scores, but the Suns have been a statistical disaster in the time he spends on the floor without Bledsoe.

Step 2: Investing in Potential Frontcourt Cornerstone

Denver Nuggets Receive: SG Archie Goodwin, PF Mirza Teletovic and 2016 second-round pick

Phoenix Suns Receive: PF Darrell Arthur and C Joffrey Lauvergne

Disclaimer: This might be a tough sell to Denver.

Lauvergne is a floor-spacing big with some serious defensive potential. But the Nuggets don’t have a need for him, Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari, Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic. Two of them will need to go in due time.

Step 3: Buying Low on Another Young Gun

Phoenix Suns Receive: SF Caron Butler and SG Ben McLemore

Sacramento Kings Receive: PF Jon Leuer and SF P.J. Tucker

Grabbing McLemore does not undermine Booker’s development.

The No. 7 pick from 2013 is trying to stave off the dreaded “bust” label. Though his three-point rate has climbed through each of his first three seasons, his defense is underwhelming, and he has never posted a player efficiency rating better than 10.5. He ranks as a buy-low acquisition for Phoenix—a plug-and-play piece that soaks up any available minutes following Goodwin’s and Tucker’s departures.

Deadly shooting from Omri Casspi (44.1 percent from three) and Seth Curry (41.4 percent) lets the Kings cut bait with McLemore.Tucker is a solid backup wing and offers cheap insurance should Sacramento decide to ship out Rudy Gay—a distinct possibility, per Stein.

Adding Leuer permits Kings head coach George Karl to deploy even more offensively tantalizing lineups. DeMarcus Cousins and Leuer would bend defenses with their shooting, or the latter can dot the three-point line as Willie Cauley-Stein spearheads all the pick-and-rolls.

And with the Kings a stone’s throw from the West’s playoff bracket, the prospect of landing two impact players is one they cannot rebuff without serious consideration.

Calderon or Afflalo? That's all that works capwise.

Step 1:
Calderon for Markieff

Step 2:
Bledsoe to Boston for Net's pick and expiring David Lee
or
Bledsoe to Utah for Exum and expiring Trevor Booker
or
Bledsoe to Los Angeles Kobies for their top 3 pick and expiring Hibbert
or
Bledsoe to NO for their pick and expiring Gordon

Step 3:

Small tidbit regarding the Knicks/Suns rumor.

Arron Afflalo has a player option for next season & if he continues to play like he has + factoring in the cap spike, I assume he's opting out thus making him an expiring really.

In regards to Calderon, we'd love for you guys to accept him in the deal but thing is, we don't need anymore forwards. We're in desperate need of a PG upgrade, so my assumption is that we'd use Morris in a 3 team deal to route elsewhere.

The Knicks have nothing I want except Porzingis and I am sure he is untouchable. The Knicks probably would not trade him for anyone and I really mean anyone. Therefore I do not see a match between the Suns and Knicks.

Don't be greedy. I would trade Kieff for used sock and it even don't need a pair.

OK......it's time for a game plan.

Here's what I would do.

1. First off, the draft. I'll take Simmons or Ingram. If we can't get either of those two, I'm trading the pick, Markieff Morris and P.J. Tucker Atlanta for Al Horford in a sign-and-trade. Knowing that Bazemore and Horford could walk, they can't say no to that. Can Horford? We'll talk to him first.

2. If we get Simmons, I'm willing to trade T.J. If we get Ingram, I'm not necessarily. I'll give Ingram a season. If he shows me enough of a shot, I don't mind him getting pushed around. He can bulk up. Ultimately, it's about potential.

3. Speaking of potential, I'm leaning towards keeping Brandon Knight and trading Eric Bledsoe.

Bled's injury history is going to haunt us. I'm cool with a shooter like Knight. He's not perfect, but if we can't count on Bled to be in the Finals, we can't count on him to guide us to a championship.

Where? Utah for Rodney Hood and a 1st. They won't say no to that unless they get Jeff Teague. I don't know if Utah will actually pull the trigger, but Hayward/Bledsoe? That's a little scary.

4. Alex Len is worth re-signing, but not to anything close to a max. If he asks, we let him walk. If we can get him for.....4 years, $40-55M? He's still got a looooot of potential. Of all the young centers in the league, it's worth it to see if he can develop into the kind of offensive player we haven't seen in a while.

5. Booker is completely untouchable.

6. Free agents: I will make offer sheets to Kelly Olynyk and Terrence Jones, but I won't chase them so bad that it kills me. As for Blake, there's a chance he could want to play with Simmons or the Minnesota duo (or this rumored KD/Westbrook duo with the Lakers). We'll chase him, but we won't bank on it.

Jones was reeeeeally good offensively in 2013-14. I'd like to chase him.

7. Tyson Chandler is loyal to us. We should be loyal to him.

Hopefully, we have a lineup in 2017 that looks something like this.

PG Knight/Price
SG Booker/Hood
SF Simmons/Hood
PF Jones/Leuer
C Len/Chandler

I like that going forward.

LOVE this guy.

It's tough to teach attitude, and he has the right one. If he can produce, I would rather keep another year, and get the super young under his wing.

It's tough to even think about the draft now that we fired our coach. Anyone coming in will want to do their best and have the team do its best. And if it Watson, he has already been in camp witThe these guys, he should have a good idea how and when to use each guy, even our bench. This may change everything, or it may do nothing.

You can't 'sign and trade' a guy on draft night, or talk to him as he's not yet a FA at that point

Well, we ask Atlanta if they can live with someone we want. We take that guy at the draft. Then, if we can bring Horford in on July 1st, we try and land him, and if he would be open to it, we deal.

Ask Andrew Wiggins.

Return to Phoenix Suns
