I LOVED this game! The thing I like the most in the incredible poise and swagger the Terps displayed even when it was down to 3 at the end.

My one complaint is the refs were like Bennie "Snake Eyes" Wilson:

WARNING: NSFW on language, from the movie Harlem Knights. Blind Bennie Wilson at the crap tables -- I think he reffed for OSU against the Terps. Mind boggling bad calls made it a very close game IMO.

The real deal: I got some eye glass this weekend and FINALLY I could REALLY SEE good HDTV!!! I was driving around like Bennie Wilson on the streets of Oahu. THANK YOU, GOD; that my two moving vehicle accidents (several months apart) were both very very minor. :D

Happy Birthday!. I'll catch up to you in 4 months & 4 days. Good stuff. And yeah, in the OSU game, there were a ton of phantom calls - pretty much all going against MD. I thought Big 10 officiating was known for not calling fouls unless blood was drawn.

I don't know the numbers, but I think their record in close games is phenominal.

Definitely something to be said for winning close games. Shows mental toughness and the Terps have won a lot of those types of games the past couple seasons. This Nebraska game will be deceptively tough. They don't look as bad as their record says they are and any win on the road is no gimmie.

That being said; Saturday is HUGE. Chance for them to beat another ranked team and keep pace with all of the conference leaders. Hammons is one of the best centers in college basketball and will be a tough guard for Stone/Dodd. Should be a great test.

On a side note: where the hell is Brantley? In the limited time I've seen him play he certainly doesn't look unplayable. Team needs another ball handler to rely on. We all saw what happened when West Virigina knocked Trimble out of the game in the tourney last year and they pressed the hell out of us. And for sure CCJ; Wiley would be huge right now. Really wonder if he would've been the extra boost that put this team over the top.

Gleaning comments made on Turgeon's weekly radio show, I think they like Brantley's offensive game - except for him jump shot. He's played behind Ram, because Ram is a much better defender. If Brantley's jump shot improves, he'll play.

Btw, it's time Turgeon lowers Dodd's minutes and gives them to Stone. I understand why he's been giving Dodd his minutes, but now's the time to get Stone NCAA tournament ready.

Its funny when you watch Maryland play and the commentators rave about their ability to play in and win big conference games being new to the conference.

Like dude, we came from this little conference called the ACC. Ever heard of it? We've played and won games in Chapel Hill and Cameron Indoor. Big 10 ain't **** in comparison.

Every f'ing game with this team just HAS to be close I guess. Knew Nebraska was better than their record showed but for once I'd like the Terps to actually surprise me and look like a top 5 team; even on the road.

That said: it's February 3rd and the team has 20 wins (9 in the Big Ten). I'll take it.

Saturday is monumentally huge. Better be focused and come to play.

Yeah, it was ugly, but I don't think they should apologize for another road win. Big positive was Stone finally got to play 34 minutes, and he blocked 8 shots! Unfortunately, part of his minutes increase was because Carter was in foul trouble all game. Trimble was again able to turn it on at the end after playing ugly for most of the game. And Nickens showed signs of life.

I think the bottom line come tournament time is - Layman and Nickens have to hit 3's, and the starters stay out of foul trouble, because the team is pretty good (with Stone and Carter BOTH playing over 32 minutes) - and they're playing better defense than I thought they would.

Terps need to ride their size more. Pound it inside and let the big guys dominate. The game was put away late last night because of the rebounding and shot blocking, no reason why they can't carry the offensive load as well. Can't rely so much on Trimble dominating iso ball. Use your size and athleticism up front and just pound teams down low.

Is Bender a quality sub? Can't Ceko contribute if he gets minutes as Carter ebbs (just to motivate Carter)?

See my last posts on Bender and Ceko.

I agree, Higga. I think those guys can contribute well given minutes.

Bender's bigger than I thought - he's like 230 lbs. I actually do like Cekovsky offensively. The problem is all of these guys are kind of slow to be guarding PF's and Carter's the only one with range on his shot. If Carter and Stone go pro this draft, Bender and Ceko might surprise people.

The old Lefthander still has the same hair style he had when he coached the Terps. Whether you liked him or not, Lefty oozed charisma, and judging by that picture - nothing's changed. Lefty got swag.
