then you have no imagination at all. if he left that alone, it'd set a precedent. and then you'd see others using his name, it'd snowball and big companies would get it on it. besides, if your name is used and you don't file a complaint, it would be pretty much assumed you give your permission. what if the business was doing something illegal? your name would be compromised.

Say you have to be at least 8 to remember something vividly into adulthood.

And if the real Jordan ended in 1998, you can argue anyone born after 1990 wouldn't recall the famed version of him.

It's the principal of the matter. He sued them and donated all the money so it wasn't about that. I assume that any rich person/company wouldn't let someone use their name for free since it then impacts how much you can charge to use the name.
