disappointing loss after the comeback, but lets get back to the big picture
Vegas had us at 31 wins before the season started
We are on pace for 36-46 (5 wins over vegas prediction)
Porzingis has franchise player written all over him, projects to be a perennial all-star; I'm excited to see how he improves with a full off-season of work and a year under his belt
Playoffs this year would be icing on the cake, but the truth is, the east is just alot deeper than last year. Detroit, Orlando, and Indiana (PG return) also made jumps.
Trying to be objective here. Overall, I'm happy with the way the season has gone, I viewed it strictly as a development year. KP, Galloway and Lance have all shown progress in their career arcs. All our of our free agents are contributors (no duds). Melo is pretty healthy.

At this point, I have had it with coaches and managements devoted to a single system. Run whatever system is best for the talent you have on hand in that time and place, and win games. Nothing else matters.

Nothing.

15 teams or so are in a similar or worse position as the Knicks record wise and as much as people love to downplay the market, it's NY and that sells. That's not to say we'll get whoever we want, but I'd say it's premature to predict the Knicks striking out in FA and start dumping what actually amounts to a solid core.

Melo/KP/RoLo ...you have a starting front court in place. I think we should be able to keep one or both of Dwill and Lance plus Galloway that's three solid bench pieces. Grant developing helps and if AA opts in, he's at least a solid sixth man type in his own right. Around 20 million should get us at least one starting caliber guard imo and you gotta believe there'd be some leftover for a legit bench PF addition (even if it's Dlee just to have a legitimate PF option). We'd be hoping one of Galloway or Grant develops enough to take the other starting spot and any playoff success still relies on Melo playing well or KP's growth...but that's not such a bad place to be.

I think the signs really do point to parting ways with Melo. Maybe take their turn at-bat with Durant and then see what else happens that could turn the tide immediately. If not you start to try to build a foundation with KP and RoLo will be here too. Hopefully Gallow back on a reasonable deal.

What is building a foundation anyway -- we're talking about getting 2-4 assets for Melo. Not exactly very complicated or neverending.

How many teams TRADING the superstar for assets have won the trade? Honest question because I know common consensus has always been that the team giving the star loses the deal.

True you're right actually. I'm looking at the play log of the game and it just says "Pistons offensive rebound". No mention of a foul on the Knicks. Oh well like I said we deserved to lose... and yet another strike against Fish for not recognizing that error..

That's what I've been saying the whole time. This Prodigy poster obviously didn't watch the game, calling me a noob. I know the rules, a foul resets the shot clock to 14 except THERE WASN'T A FOUL CALLED. I thought I made that clear, I even said it in the video and you hear Marv Albert say it was deflected out of bounds. Call it nitpicking, okay, but we clearly had the momentum at that point and that 3 pointer killed it. It shouldn't have counted.

i don't think at melo's age you can make this incremental progress. this process has to be quicker. otherwise it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

no system can make these guys better. we simply lack talent to do anything significant this year. yall expecting way too much, I just watch the games to see kristaps progress, nothing more at this point.

You know why? Because all they care about is the W. No agenda. No "I need to win my way with my guys". Just get the W however you can.

I love it. Get the W and fix stuff after. Not fix stuff now and pray it leads to W's later.

This is where Phil Jackson shows how big his balls really are. We will be heading into Year 3 of the Phil Jackson Experience.

I will say this, Phil hasn't been perfect but he has yet to mortgage the future that all our previous GM's did. I think if it came down to it we could always just hit the reset button. I don't think Melo, ROLO, AA, Dwill, and KOQ are unmovable contracts.

But he may have with all the contracts that he added. Anthony can be moved. Teams will always be interested in acquiring top tier stars. The rest of them is debatable IMHO. Yes, they can be moved but if you are trying to move them to clear cap to do something other GM's will know it and ask for more value back (the Knicks have limited assets to give which means they will have to take someone back that the other team is trying to get rid of). But it basically goes to what I said about Phil going to have to show how big his balls are. :D

I coudn't agree more to this. Sadly, the coach thinks otherwise.

So Stan Van Gundy doesn't know what he's talking about. Knicks Bycke does though.

It's part of being the Senators and a Murphy's Law team. If the Pistons needed 1 more second to get off the momentum-breaking play, they'd get that 1 second from a warp in the fabric of space-time. Somebody up there doesn't like us, which is where my username came from in the first place.

time to fully commit to a rebuild?

if melo wants to go it's an option. but if you do that, you have to get rid of phil first. you can't claim do-over after every season. i thought we were building ? we're gonna tear it down again ? ok, take your peace pipe and hit the road. and take this dumb fish with you.

Not that I am sold on Phil but its not easy to win in the NBA. I mean guys like Layden, Isiah, and Grunwald not only stunk they also destroyed our future. I don't think we are in an awful place its just frustrating that we are in the middle of our worst basketball stretch of the year.

It also doesn't help that KP and Melo are both hurt and playing well below there skill level.

Define "win". Because in the Dwight to LA trade, everyone thought LA and Philly won the trade. Turns out Vucevic was the best player in the trade, and Orlando won.
