But we can't trade him, he's a mentor for Porzingis. We might be the 6th seed in 3 years with him.

What has gone on here the past 2.5 years is so unacceptable. It's so frustrating. It's so embarrassing.

It's everything James Dolan deserves.

yeah trade him for 2 late chicago firsts and a late clippers first like you suggested on the trades & transaction board. you're the greatest.

Yes NY is is his first choice. We know that. He forced his way here. But it's not working out. Unless he's totally content to lose, which I don't think about Melo and it's an odd argument coming from people who really think highly of him, then parting of ways can and probably will happen. If there's interest from teams who can send something of value for him -- big if.

But when? Highly unlikely in the coming couple weeks. But this summer seems probable to me barring things we can't reasonably say are likely.

I think you have a different definition of the word probable.

Yeah - from my perspective there were numerous games early in the season where his legs were completely lacking. He looked great for a 10 game or so stretch where everything was in sync and he was getting easy/solid looks but the past 8-10 games his body looks bad again and he's not moving well.

This happens all the time over and over again with aging players.

They realize that they have to conserve energy and they also realize that they risk injury if/when they have to try to explode to the basket. As a result defensive players lose respect for their ability to take them off the dribble and or finish at the rim. The defenders then start to get up in their face more and contest the jump shot more. You can see this materialize and Melo has to use his jab step 2-3 times to clear himself for a shot and in how he plays more and more with his back to the basket relying more and more on tough/contested off balance fade-away jump shots rather than taking easier open-looks facing the basket straight on.

It's very similar yet not as advanced as what you see from Kobe right now -- he can still make shots on many nights but those shots as a whole are much more difficult and mostly mid-range or contested 3-point shots always with a hand in the face. The shooting % starts to decline year/year -- the points are still produced but the net impact of the numbers is over-stated, inflated, empty.

It's just the fact of aging.

They're not going to ask him about a trade. They'll probably check in with him at season's end to see where he's at with the process. That's roughly how they'll word it. If he's unhappy, Melo will initiate the "T" word and you go from there.

I think we're about a year away from this even being realistically considered. If we miss the playoffs this year, strike out in free agency, and then get off to a bad start next season (which are all quite possible), then a Melo trade is more likely for both sides. Until then, I don't see it happening.

I don't. If the Knicks don't make the playoffs and can't get a big fish in the off-season, then I think he's more than likely going to be traded. I'd say very probable UNLESS teams just don't want him. Possible. I can't judge that. But the cap is going up and he can still play, and is only 31. I can't judge team interest obviously, but I don't think the Knicks' or Melo's interest would be any impediment. Both will want to part ways this summer.

Don't **** with me, Shammgod. He'd better not (target Gasol first). I think he knows he needs better guards. But that's only because of how damn obvious it is from the outside and how tough it is to get guys that matter.

You may have noticed, I've been eyeing the Blazers again recently. I ain't mad this time. But when you know the building has a tendency to burn down you at least gotta note the fire exits.

The currency of hope. Fans get to debate drafts and then argue about whether or not Shump is the next Wade. Then we get to bash then when they're not.

Now you're not being fair. That's what they got Willy for. And he's cheaper.

When Phil got here he kept saying he wasn't married to the triangle. That he just wanted system basketball that didn't 100% rely on pick and roll after pick and roll and to let everybody on the floor get involved. That he wanted to be like the Spurs.

Everybody should be down for that. So then IDK why we're being so damn strict with the triangle. Other teams incorporate triangle sets into their offense, but they're much more versatile. All that talk about Fish altering the system a bit and wanting to push the pace have all went out the window. This team is as slow, predictable, stagnant, and jump shot happy as ever. The ugliest offense I've seen in quite a while.

Would like to see what happens if we threw this isosceles system out the window and just gave Grant the keys to run said pick and roll after pick and roll with our starters instead of Lou Amundson.

When Grant develops a lion's heart to take said jumpshot let alone run an NBA offense, let me know.
