Re: Official Manchester United FC Thread
Barely get the win over Sheffield United (1-0) to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Our attack continues to struggle. Our best opportunities were a couple blasts outside the box from Memphis. Luckily he drew a penalty in the 93' and Rooney sealed it, converting his PK.
LvG lives another day, but you bet your ass he's still in the hot seat. Let's see how they come out Tuesday versus Newcastle.

United travel to Stamford Bridge tomorrow to take on Chelsea in the Mourinho Bowl. Scoreless tie last time these two matched up a couple days after Christmas. Predictions?

0-0.
Strange to think about the hype around this tie before the season and now.
Probably won't even watch this.

I hope we see some scoring. Chelsea is 4-3-0 in league games since they sacked Mourinho. United is 3-1-1 in their last 5. Rooney has been in excellent form and hopefully it continues tomorrow.

Re: Official Manchester United FC Thread
United play to a 1-1 draw with Chelsea after conceding a very late Costa equalizer. Lingard scored in his second straight match to give United the lead midway through the second half.
De Gea was brilliant and made some key saves. Almost notched his 10th clean sheet of the season if they held on for the win.

so depressing
if we miss CL, does that impact the adidas deal? I remember there were some CL related clauses, but not the details

Re: Official Manchester United FC Thread
The performances are at least steadily improving (thought you were excellent against Stoke, solid against Chelsea), but I don't see any of the current top 4 dropping out, barring a collapse of sorts.
Still, it's in your hands with some huge games to come. You still have to play Arsenal and Leicester at Old Trafford, and Spurs and City at WHL and the Etihad respectively.

Unfortunately I agree with your statement.
We're just too far back at this point for me to confidently say we can get back into the Top 4. The loss against Bournemouth, Norwich Southampton as well as a tie against Newcastle x2 is really starting to look bad.
Like you said though, the top 4 play each other this weekend and we still play all the teams head to head so it certainly isn't completely out of reach. It would be a great time to really hit form and confidence and beat some of these teams.
Either way lets go United!!
P.S. I really miss Shaw hope he comes back end of March or so

Re: Official Manchester United FC Thread
I think your best chance is to leapfrog City. The point differential is still quite significant, but even at the best of times they have a hard time staying motivated, which explains their inconsistency. Playing for a manager that's got one foot firmly out of the door is a whole different proposition. They're also flat-track bullies, failing to beat anyone in the top 6 thus far.
Now I've said that they will probably beat Spurs at the weekend, with that bellend Sterling scoring.

Re: Official Manchester United FC Thread
Memphis has looked fantastic these past 2 matches. The confidence he was missing is certainly there now. Marcus Rashford has been a pleasant surprise scoring 2 goals in his first 2 games. 3 straight wins in all competitions and now have a meeting with Watford on Wednesday. Keep it going lads.

Re: Official Manchester United FC Thread
Kind of ridiculous to think that we have somehow set ourselves up to finish top 4 as well as our first title in 3 years.
3 wins in a row will help us achieve this with anything less could leave us with absolutely nothing.
The hardest game will be tomorrow against West ham playing their last game at home before their new stadium. Does anyone know if Martial will be available for this game? He is definitely our x factor and best player on the field.
Another lingering question is if we do finish with champions league qualification and FA cup title, does LVG keep his job?
So many unanswered questions, but I'm glad we have something to fight for this season!

Yeah, this may actually turn into a somewhat successful season.

If you had to choose one, would you choose CL next year or FA cup title?

I think many fans IN England do. FA Cup means a lot to English fans.
Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Toni Kroos, Pep Guardiola, Ernst Happel, Joachim Löw.

Sooo Mourinho. 3 years ago I would have been a lot more excited than I am today. Will he play a more attractive brand of football?
